    In this paper we present the results of our examination of the influence of the solidification front velocity on microstructural changes the the directionally solidified eutectic Pb-Sn (61,9 ut% Sn) ... alloy. Five samples of the Pb-Sn eutectic alloy were solidified on a laboratory directional solidification device under different solidification conditiond. The changes in the solidification front velocity and the temperature gradient were defined from the cooling curves measured with four thermocouples placed insidethe samples. The results of aour investigations show that the linear spacing decreases with the increasing solidification front velocity, and that the microstructure of the eutectic Pb-Sn alloy changes progressivelly from regular lamellar to degenerate rod-like morphology.
