    In the paper, the approach to fault detection in embedded control system is presented. Using FPGAs efficient monitoring of the data in the system can be performed without interference with the ... control application. The main fault detection approach in the model is the consistency checking. By comparing the lower and upperbounds of the signals in the system any deviation from the required values can be detected. Also some temporal requirements of the system can be observed by means of the watchdog timers. The drawback of using the FPGAs is that only simple evaluations can be implemented. To monitor more complex behaviour of the system other techniques (e. g. software routines) must be used.
