    The present work presents a step forward in the direction of the expertise of the basic physics phenomena of nucleate boiling heat transfer. For the purpose of the study of the velocity field in the ... vicinity of an isolated bubble, a physical experiment was built. The flow velocity components in the vicinity of an isolated bubble were measured with a PIV (particle Image Velocimetry) system, where the laser light, scattered by seeding particles, moving in the flow field, provide a signal that is recorded on a CCD camera. The recorded image data were analyzed by cross-corellation technique and are presented in the shape of a velocity vector field in the vicinity of the bubble. Numerical results are presented in the form of the horizontal and vertical velocity profile. The microstructure of the heat transfer in the vicinity of the active nucleation cavity was recorded with the electron microscope. The measurement results show good foundation for the determination of the convective effects on the nucleate boiling heat transfer.
