  • The influence of fabric structure on air permeability
    Dobnik-Dubrovski, Polona
Paper deals with the influence of different woven fabric constructions on air permeability. Twentynine woven samples for outwear having different raw material, type of weave and thread density were ... tested. In order to find the best direct connection between fabric construction and air permeability, following fabric parameters were chosen: relative fabric density, volume fulfillness and cover factor. The results of dispersion analysis show that all chosen parameters have a significant effect on air permeability. Using a method of correlation and regression, the power and the shape of individual connection were defined. The correlation index between the relative density, volume fulfillness and air permeability is very high - (0,90 and 0,92 respectively), while for the cover factor is lower (0,71). For a woven fabric construct or the assessment of relative density regarding to the air permeability is more useful, while relative density is influenced by all primary construction parameters (weave, yarn fineness, warp/weft density).
