  • Analysis of instruments for determining the vertical displacement of structures
    Kovačič, Boštjan, 1967- ; Premrov, Miroslav, 1967-
This paper presents the analysis of precision and reliability of different instruments for investigating vertical displcements of constructions. In Slovenia the investigation of building structures ... by the pressure test is obligatory for all structures longer than 15 m (JUS U.M!.046). Among all the methods we chose the geodetic and the non-geodetic ones. There are many methods for researching displacements, so we limited ourselves to the instruments available. We used the level, total station, inductive transducer and the laser level. The measurements of displacements were made on a reinforced concrete plate of the type PVP5. We calculated the predicted displacements analytically and numerically. For the analytical calculation we used the national regulations (Eurocode 2) and for the numerical part we used the program Ocean. For each instrument we calculated the standard deviation and the optimal accuracy, we checked the significance of results by the analysis of variances with one variable factor, and by the method of "Baardaʹs data snooping" we also controlled the presence of large errors that may occur in measurement results. In the disertation we described the basic deformation models, the instruments for studying displacements and the working principles of instruments by which the research was made and the errors measured. The precision was analysed through the comparison of the predicted displacements and the results of displacement measuremnts. The obtained results are gathered in the conclusion providing the answer to our queries.
