    Data from the most innovative countries in the world show that the development and success of the economy of each country is of great significance for innovation and the promotion of innovation ... activities in enterprises. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of developing innovation and the aspect of innovation activity of SMEs in Slovenia (SME) in a rapidly changing global environment. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the global level, European, national level, and in Slovenia representing a growing share of the economy. In order to give a snapshot of different aspects of innovation and different activities associated with innovation we analyse data from several sources. Among the key factors which affect the innovation activity of enterprises it has an important place in enterprise learning and the related acquisition of new knowledge in the enterprise, the company introduced an innovation strategy, innovation favorable management in the company and the environment. In the fourth section we present the results of the survey on innovation activities of Slovenian small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs).
