ISO 18233 defines a new measurement method in building and room acoustics based on deterministic excitation signals. According to this standard, the proposed method provides higher signal-to-noise ratio compared with traditional method (ISO 140), in which random noise is used as the excitation signal. This paper presents the results of measurements of sound levels in the room obtained with classical and swept-sine method. The results show that both methods can be used for the specified purpose and outside of laboratory conditions. They also indicate the possibility of good accuracy of the new method, but with proper calibration.
