NECROPOLIS IN A CAVE IN THE JADOVA CANYON This cave in the Jadova canyon was discovered in 2002 by the archaeologists working on the building site of Udbina – Gornja Ploèa highway. Some ceramics had been found in front of the cave and it was decided to start archaeological diggings before the road construction. The diggings took place from November, 18 to December 14, 2002, with the help of members of the speleological society «Ursus spelaeus» from Karlovac. The cave is 32 meters in length and at its very end a necropolis of the Illyrian tribe Japodi was discovered. The site was used as a burial ground. Later analyses have shown that 7 people, 5 to 45 years of age, were buried there. Besides ceramics several bronze spiral necklaces were found. The C 14 method showed that the sample, 2800 to 2900 years old, dated back to the end of the Bronze Age.
