Dokument opracowany w formie listów traktuje o historycznym, antropologicznym, etnologicznym, etnograficznym i geologicznym rozwoju obu Ameryk. Wiele opisów nawiązuje do zwyczajów i tradycji rdzennych mieszkańców kontynentu. W publikacji, Carli porównuje swoje opisy, wyobrażenia i teorie z podejściem i poglądami innych współczesnych i starożytnych autorów. Stara się również udowodnić istnienie ludu Patagão (lPatagón), zamieszkującego Patagonię, dawne istnienie Amazonek etc .Publikację Briefe über Ameryka…określano mianem niezwykle imponującego XVIII-wiecznego źródła wiedzy o kontynencie amerykańskim, ze względu na obfitość przetworzonego w niej materiału źródłowego, począwszy od autorów starożytnych do współczesnych autorowi opracowania. (Gera, 1785) - the first part of the German-language translation Lettere americanae - a publication written by an Italian economist, historian, antiquarian, numismatist, archeologist and sociologist Gian Rinaldo Carli (1720-1795), in the study of Christian Gottfried Hennig. The documentary produced in the form of letters treats the historical, anthropological, ethnological, ethnographic and geological development of the Americas. Many descriptions refer to the customs and traditions of indigenous people of the continent.
