    The goal of this work was finding an acceptable model to predict the surface roughness of a turning process by using genetic algorithms. This study includes an introduction to evolutionary ... algorithms, especially genetic algorithms and the most common techniques. State-of-the-art research was done to represent an overview of other researches in the same domain. Finally a genetic algorithm is developed and a polynomial and exponential model were found to predict the surface roughness. The research has shown that genetic algorithms are an appropriate method to predict the surface roughness.
