The influence of heat treatment technology on the corrosion of high-strength Al-alloys

This research work is concerned with a new technology for the processing and heat treatment of various high-strength aluminium alloys (No. 2024, 2030 and 7075 according to ANSI) using the indirect ...pressing method. In connection with this new technology, which has a large effect on the microstructure of the alloys, the question has arisen as to how much their corrosion properties are affected. Numerous comparisons have been carried out between the corrosion properties of materials which have been produced using the new and traditional technologies. The results of the research work which has been carried out on the above defined alloys have indicated that there is not a lot of difference between the corrosion resistance of these materials even through they were produced by two different technologies resulting in not quite identical microstructures.
