    In this article, there is a general overview of economic history, beginning with the Middle Ages, then continuing with Slovenian development under the Habsbourg monarchy and its reform period, the ... first Yugoslavia and the interwar period, the second Yugoslavia with the impact of socialism, and finally the last decade of Slovenian independence. In the period of the second Yugolavia, much emphasis is placed on the self-management experiment, economic crisis, and comparison to Slovenia. In the second part of the article, there is a general overview of Slovenian economic development after independence. Different economic fields and policies are analysed and compared with other EU member states .
