  • Shell analysis with assured convergence
Dobovišek, Borut ; Kramar, Janez, 1940-
ǂA ǂmethod is presented for the static analysis of thin-shell structures, subjected to arbitrary loadings. The method is fairly similar to the finite strip element method, the essential difference ... being that the stiffness matrices of the individual strip elements are not calculated using assumed shape functions, but through a direct solution of the differential equations. If the width of the strip elements does not exceed a certain limiting value, where numerical difficulties would occur, then the accuracy of the results obtained is always assured and independent of element width. A brief description is given of a combination of this method with the force method, which makes possible the analysis of combined shell-truss structures.
