    The use of enzymes in textile processing is a more and more often applied technique for the modification of fabric surface and hand. The mechanical properties of textile materials, as well as their ... hand change after enzyme treatments. In this work cotton knitted fabric was treated with commercial Trichoderma reesei cellulases containing different cellulase profiles and their mechanical properties were evaluated. Enzyme treatments were carried out at laboratiry scale, and the effects of tretments were checked through weight loss and the Kawabata Evaluation System (KES). The results show that the KWB-FB is an effective method for evaluating the mechanical properties under low loading-like extension, shear and bending properties and handle evaluation of enzyme treated knitted fabrics. Furthemore, the results of surface changes and hand-gain using the KES-FB measuring system fabrics are very important parameters for planning the appearance of enzyme-treated knitted fabrics.
