    The article analyzes the influence and perceptions of Turkish soap operas in Western Balkan countries, especially in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. The analysis focuses on socio-cultural ... impacts, historical re-interpretations, re-orientalisation of relations between the Orient and the West in the Balkan context, understanding of religion, and perceptions of gender roles. The article includes the analysis of relevant academic research as well as internet media (news, forums, blogs and FB sites), which represent excellent primary sources with insight into everyday understandings and reactions to Turkish soap operas and Turkey. The article is theoretically based in social constructivist approach, where interpretations of reality depend on diverse social contexts and actors and any meaning given to concepts and phenomena is a constructed meaning.
