Due to the strain-induced martensitic transformation during plastic deformation, a transformation-induced plasticity (TRIP) steel possesses such favorable mechanical properties as high strength, ...ductility and toughness. Since its favorable mechanical properties are realized under quite restricted circumstances, the prediction and control of the deformation processes is indispensable to determine the expected mechanical properties of TRIP steel. However, it is very difficult to obtain the TRIP steel which only have the martensitic structure before deformation and the stress-strain relationship of each phases under various temperatures cannot be measured by the experiment. So the identification of the parameters in the constitutive equations of TRIP steel is necessary. Here, a method employing a finite-element simulation and the non-linear least square method with constraint conditions was proposed to identify the constitutive parameters of TRIP steel from the true stress-plastic strain and the volume fraction of martensite-plastic strain relations obtained by the uniaxial tensile test and computational simulations. Then, the application of this procedure employing virtual data of an ideal TRIP steel which possesses more favorable mechanical properties is discussed for investigating improvement of the mechanical properties of TRIP steel.
Detailed maps of the structure of turbulent diffusion pulverized coal flames were obtained experimentally to study the relation between gas composition profiles and NOx emissions. It was determined ...that, in a low-NOx coal flame, a fuel-rich region was widely distributed in space and coal particles ignited near the burner exit. Ignition occurred at a local stoichiometric ratio of 0.35 to 0.4. The concentrations of major gas species in a flame were found also to depend on this local stoichiometric ratio.
In the field of oral surgery, since most symptoms appear in and around the oral cavity, tube feeding is frequently carried out for nutritional control. In the present study, we examined the ...nutritional effects and the safety of Ensure Plus application in 126 cases. As the result, increased rapid turnover protein and nutritional index were found during the application period.Besides, side effects as diarrhea were observed only in 12 patients (9.7%). The application of Ensure Plus in the oral surgery seems to be an easy and effective diet without causing serious side effects. It has been confirmed that Ensure Plus is a superior product.
We have developed a finger-piece method that can indicates an acculate concentration of ICG based on the two wavelength spectrophotometry. Seventy-eight subjects were evaluated by this new method. ...The ICG clearance curve obtained from ICG clearance meter showed a rapid increase 20 or 40 seconds after the bolus injection. The curve decreased gradually, and increased again at 60 or 70 seconds. Plasma disapperance rate (PDR) by this method (XK ICG) was calculated by the at least square method from 600 data obtained from 5 to 15 minutes after the injection. There was a significant correation between conventional PDR (KICG) and new method (XK ICG) also. We assume that this method have a possibility to discover new aspect of pharmakokinetics of ICG.
Application of glassy carbon electrode to the emission spectrochemical analysis, and especially possibility of the application to the continuous emission spectrometry are studied. Glassy carbon ...electrode is easily reclaimed because of its impermeability. In spark discharge, dissipation of the electrode is small, and therefore the electrode can be used over 100 times. Stable spark is obtained by use of glassy carbon electrode.Since spark column is thick, intensities of the spectral-lines are three times as intense as those obtained by use of ordinary carbon electrode. The impurities in glassy carbon electrodes are not important in the case of spark excitation, continuous emission spectrochemical analysis becomes possible if the rotating disk spark technique is used with samples prepared in liquid phase. It is thought that glassy carbon is only electrode material usable in continuous emission spectrochemical analysis.
We recently experienced a case of malignant melanoma of the soft tissue, which is a rare disease. The patient was a 29-year-old woman who complained of a mass on the right supraclavicular fossa. Wide ...resection was performed with dissection of neck lymph nodes as the tumor was suspected to be a clear cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses by incisional biopsy. A tumor embolism was noted in the right subclavian vein. In the surgical specimen, melanin pigment was light-microscopically noted and melanosomes were detected electron-microscopically in the tumor cells. The tumor was diagnosed as soft-tissue malignant melanoma, termed clear cell sarcoma of tendons and aponeuroses by Enzinger et al. The patient underwent DVA adjuvant chemotherapy and is currently alive without any recurrent sign after the operation.
