The paper presents four modifications of the inertial forward-backward splitting method for monotone inclusion problems in the framework of real Hilbert spaces. The advantages of our iterative ...schemes are that the single-valued operator is Lipschitz continuous monotone rather than cocoercive and the Lipschitz constant does not require to be known. The strong convergence of the suggested approaches is obtained under some standard and mild conditions. Finally, several numerical experiments in finite- and infinite-dimensional spaces are proposed to demonstrate the advantages of our algorithms over the existing related ones.
Background:
There are currently few studies regarding late-onset neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (LO-NMOSD).
Objective:
We aimed to describe the characteristic features of patients with ...LO-NMOSD in Korea.
Methods:
Anti-aquaporin-4 antibody-positive patients with neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) from nine tertiary hospitals were reviewed retrospectively. The patients were divided into two groups based on age of onset: LO-NMOSD (⩾50 years of age at onset) versus early-onset neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (EO-NMOSD) (<50 years of age at onset). Clinical, laboratory, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters were investigated.
Results:
Among a total of 147 patients (125 female; age of onset, 39.4 ± 15.2 years), 45 patients (30.6%) had an age of onset of more than 50 years. Compared to patients with EO-NMOSD, patients with LO-NMOSD had more frequent isolated spinal cord involvement at onset (64.4% vs 37.2%, p = 0.002), less frequent involvement of the optic nerve (40.0% vs 67.7%, p = 0.002), and less frequent brain MRI lesions (31.1% vs 50.0%, p = 0.034). Furthermore, there was a significant positive correlation between age of onset and Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score at last follow-up (r = 0.246, p = 0.003).
Conclusion:
Age of onset could be an important predictor of lesion location and clinical course of patients with NMOSD.
Forthcoming smart energy era is in strong pursuit of full‐fledged rechargeable power sources with reliable electrochemical performances and shape versatility. Here, as a naturally ...abundant/environmentally friendly cellulose‐mediated cell architecture strategy to address this challenging issue, a new class of hetero‐nanonet (HN) paper batteries based on 1D building blocks of cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs)/multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) is demonstrated. The HN paper batteries consist of CNF/MWNT‐intermingled heteronets embracing electrode active powders (CM electrodes) and microporous CNF separator membranes. The CNF/MWNT heteronet‐mediated material/structural uniqueness enables the construction of 3D bicontinuous electron/ion transport pathways in the CM electrodes, thus facilitating electrochemical reaction kinetics. Furthermore, the metallic current collectors‐free, CNF/MWNT heteronet architecture allows multiple stacking of CM electrodes in series, eventually leading to user‐tailored, ultrathick (i.e., high‐mass loading) electrodes far beyond those accessible with conventional battery technologies. Notably, the HN battery (multistacked LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 (cathode)/multistacked graphite (anode)) provides exceptionally high‐energy density (=226 Wh kg−1 per cell at 400 W kg−1 per cell), which surpasses the target value (=200 Wh kg−1 at 400 W kg−1) of long‐range (=300 miles) electric vehicle batteries. In addition, the heteronet‐enabled mechanical compliance of CM electrodes, in combination with readily deformable CNF separators, allows the fabrication of paper crane batteries via origami folding technique.
CNFs/CNTs‐based hetero‐nanonet paper batteries are presented as a 1D material‐mediated cell architecture strategy to enable ultrahigh energy density and shape versatility far beyond those achievable with conventional battery technologies. Owing to the 3D bicontinuous electron/ion transport pathways and exceptional mechanical compliance, the hetero‐nanonet paper batteries provide unprecedented improvements in the electrochemical reaction kinetics, energy density, and origami foldability.
In this article, fixed points of generalized asymptotically quasi-Ф-nonexpansive mappings and equilibrium problems are investigated based on a monotone projection algo- rithm. Strong convergence ...theorems are established without the aid of compactness in the framework of reflexive Banach spaces.
In this paper, some new accelerated iterative schemes are proposed to solve the variational inequality problem with a pseudomonotone and uniformly continuous operator in real Hilbert spaces. Strong ...convergence theorems of the suggested algorithms are obtained without the prior knowledge of the Lipschitz constant of the operator. Some numerical experiments and applications are performed to illustrate the advantages of the proposed methods with respect to several related ones.
Summary Background In 2015, a large outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) infection occurred following a single patient exposure in an emergency room at the Samsung ...Medical Center, a tertiary-care hospital in Seoul, South Korea. We aimed to investigate the epidemiology of MERS-CoV outbreak in our hospital. Methods We identified all patients and health-care workers who had been in the emergency room with the index case between May 27 and May 29, 2015. Patients were categorised on the basis of their exposure in the emergency room: in the same zone as the index case (group A), in different zones except for overlap at the registration area or the radiology suite (group B), and in different zones (group C). We documented cases of MERS-CoV infection, confirmed by real-time PCR testing of sputum samples. We analysed attack rates, incubation periods of the virus, and risk factors for transmission. Findings 675 patients and 218 health-care workers were identified as contacts. MERS-CoV infection was confirmed in 82 individuals (33 patients, eight health-care workers, and 41 visitors). The attack rate was highest in group A (20% 23/117 vs 5% 3/58 in group B vs 1% 4/500 in group C; p<0·0001), and was 2% (5/218) in health-care workers. After excluding nine cases (because of inability to determine the date of symptom onset in six cases and lack of data from three visitors), the median incubation period was 7 days (range 2–17, IQR 5–10). The median incubation period was significantly shorter in group A than in group C (5 days IQR 4–8 vs 11 days 6–12; p<0·0001). There were no confirmed cases in patients and visitors who visited the emergency room on May 29 and who were exposed only to potentially contaminated environment without direct contact with the index case. The main risk factor for transmission of MERS-CoV was the location of exposure. Interpretation Our results showed increased transmission potential of MERS-CoV from a single patient in an overcrowded emergency room and provide compelling evidence that health-care facilities worldwide need to be prepared for emerging infectious diseases. In this study, we developed high-performance anion-exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE) by investigating various parameters. To enhance AEMWE performance, the effects of the ...membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) fabrication method, operating conditions, and MEA parameters were examined. As a result of the optimization and the use of FAA-3-50 and FAA-3-Br as the AEM and anion-exchange ionomer, respectively, AEMWE showed the highest performance reported thus far. Single-cell tests and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy results indicate that optimized AEMWE minimized the ohmic, charge-transfer, and mass transport resistances. Overall, by examining the AEMWE parameters, we were able to improve the electrochemical reactions, namely, the oxygen evolution reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction, and achieved outstanding performance.
A substantial amount of research effort has been directed toward the development of Pt-based catalysts with higher performance and durability than conventional polycrystalline Pt nanoparticles to ...achieve high-power and innovative energy conversion systems. Currently, attention has been paid toward expanding the electrochemically active surface area (ECSA) of catalysts and increase their intrinsic activity in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). However, despite innumerable efforts having been carried out to explore this possibility, most of these achievements have focused on the rotating disk electrode (RDE) in half-cells, and relatively few results have been adaptable to membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) in full-cells, which is the actual operating condition of fuel cells. Thus, it is uncertain whether these advanced catalysts can be used as a substitute in practical fuel cell applications, and an improvement in the catalytic performance in real-life fuel cells is still necessary. Therefore, from a more practical and industrial point of view, the goal of this review is to compare the ORR catalyst performance and durability in half- and full-cells, providing a differentiated approach to the durability concerns in half- and full-cells, and share new perspectives for strategic designs used to induce additional performance in full-cell devices.
Golden bristlegrass‐like unique nanostructures comprising reduced graphene oxide (rGO) matrixed nanofibers entangled with bamboo‐like N‐doped carbon nanotubes (CNTs) containing CoSe2 nanocrystals at ...each node (denoted as N‐CNT/rGO/CoSe2 NF) are designed as anodes for high‐rate sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs). Bamboo‐like N‐doped CNTs (N‐CNTs) are successfully generated on the rGO matrixed nanofiber surface, between rGO sheets and mesopores, and interconnected chemically with homogeneously distributed rGO sheets. The defects in the N‐CNTs formed by a simple etching process allow the complete phase conversion of Co into CoSe2 through the efficient penetration of H2Se gas inside the CNT walls. The N‐CNTs bridge the vertical defects for electron transfer in the rGO sheet layers and increase the distance between the rGO sheets during cycles. The discharge capacity of N‐CNT/rGO/CoSe2 NF after the 10 000th cycle at an extremely high current density of 10 A g−1 is 264 mA h g−1, and the capacity retention measured at the 100th cycle is 89%. N‐CNT/rGO/CoSe2 NF has final discharge capacities of 395, 363, 328, 304, 283, 263, 246, 223, 197, 171, and 151 mA h g−1 at current densities of 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 A g−1, respectively.
As high‐performance anodes for sodium‐ion batteries, golden bristlegrass‐like graphene nanofibers entangled with N‐doped CNTs containing CoSe2 nanocrystals are designed and synthesized. The synthesized unique nanostructure exhibits high cycling and rate performances even at extremely high current densities. The synergistic effect of the golden bristlegrass‐like unique structure and the N‐doped CNTs/graphene composite results in efficient anode materials for sodium‐ion batteries.
