Assuming the biomechanical and functional particularities of the children with AIS, there is a need for an earlier diagnosis.
The participants' balance (left and right step test) was estimated using electromyography and the reaction of base power on the platform.
Discriminant analysis confirmed a significant difference between the participants with AIS and healthy persons on the left step test. The values of the lumbal erector muscles, right gluteus, and side-to-side reaction of the force platform are more pronounced than the other variables. There is no significant difference among the participants with various Cobb angles.
The dynamic balance tests contribute to the AIS screening process. The pathologic form of AIS and lateralization highly affect dynamic balance. The study confirmed the neurophysicians' claims of the neuroplasticity of the central nervous system. In addition, the research illustrated the compensational functioning of mobility, especially when there is a lack of normal mobility forms, and there are weak postural control mechanisms and proprioception. There was no proof of the value of the Cobb angle as a clinical method and a measurement of the functional capabilities of the participants in the screening process.
Goal of the work is to verify if there exists a significant difference in the quality of movement measured via virtual reality (VR) technology between two groups of patients diagnosed with adolescent ...idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Grouping is made according to geographic regions; Group 1 is from Zagreb, Group 2 from Vukovar. Another goal of the work is to verify whether there is a significant improvement from initial to final measurements over a one year period in the results of all patients from both groups. Hypothesis: there is no significant difference in the quality of movement between two groups of patients, as obtained through VR tests. The second hypothesis is that there is no significant difference in the results of specific VR tests for AIS between initial and final measurements of all the examinee; respectively, the conventional therapy program in both groups doesn’t produce significant results in the direction of improvement. The sample: each group is comprised of 5 patients with AIS diagnosis, between the ages of 12–18, of both genders. The patients have a double scoliotic curve with Cobb value between 37 and 46 degrees, and are being treated with classical physiotherapeutic methods for AIS, at clinics in Zagreb and Vukovar. Methodology: VR tests for assessment of the quality of movement are a part of the System for Diagnosis and Control in Kinesiology (SYDACK) constructed at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, as described in the dissertation: VR in physiotherapy of patients with AIS (Filipović, 2011). SYDACK is an original Croatian product, containing 4 VR tests for evaluating the quality of movement: diagonal sliding to the right, diagonal sliding to the left, sliding and hip elevation. Results are analyzed via a t-test for small independent samples and a t-test for small dependent samples. In 93.75% cases there is no significant difference between results of the two groups, as obtained by all 4 VR tests. The analysis shows there is no geographical dependence in the quality of motion with AIS, which confirms the initial hypothesis. In 81.25% cases there is no significant difference in the results of specific VR tests between initial and final measurements. In 18.75% cases there is a significant difference in the direction of improvement.
Idiopathic adolescent scoliosis (IAS) is a pathologic postural adaptation in 65% of cases of scolioses. The causes of this condition are determined or suggested by a series of scientific studies and ...clinical experience. The results of the studies imply the correlation of IAS, the pathologic movement pattern and the pathologic postural adaptation which is governed by the central nervous system's mode of function. The pattern of pathologic postural adaptation has been confirmed by different methods and procedures: a physiological analysis of the soft tissues and of the specific functioning of organs' systems, a biomechanical analysis of the muscles and joints, an analysis of mobility and the degree of motor function of body segments as well as of the whole body and also by the clinical experience gained from surgical and treatment procedures on children with IAS. The development of the human society is unbreakably bonded with the development of industrial production. This increases the amount of mineral resources exploitation, thus increasing the area of ...degraded soil. The consequences of these processes are many and are destructive for the environment, so if nothing was done, the justification of exploitation would be questioned. Looking into the seriousness of the problem, special care is taken to recultivate the degraded soil and rehabilitate its reproductive capabilities. Uvod: Artroza zglobova jedan je od vodećih uzroka boli i
nesposobnosti u svijetu, a najčešće zahvaćeni zglobovi
su koljena i kukovi. Pacijenti se odlučuju na operativni
zahvat ugradnje totalne ...endoproteze kuka kako bi se
smanjila bol, povećala mobilnost i poboljšalo izvođenje
aktivnosti svakodnevnog života te na taj način poboljšala
kvaliteta života. Preoperativna fizioterapija je potencijalan
način ubrzanja vremena oporavka i općenitog
poboljšanja pacijentova stanja koji je upućen na ugradnju
totalne endoproteze.
Cilj: Utvrđivanje razlike u funkcionalnim sposobnostima
nakon ugradnje totalne endoproteze kuka između ispitanika
s kojima je provedena preoperativna fizioterapijska
priprema i kod kojih nije provedena preoperativna
fizioterapijska priprema.
Materijali i metode: Uzorak čini 30 ispitanika za operativni
zahvat ugradnje totalne endoproteze kuka. U ispitivanoj
skupini (N=15) nalaze se ispitanici koji su imali
preoperativnu fizioterapijsku pripremu i postoperativnu
fizioterapijsku intervenciju, dok su ispitanici u kontrolnoj
skupini (N=15) imali samo postoperativnu fizioterapijsku
intervenciju, Provedeno je mjerenje opsega pokreta
fleksije kuka i abdukcije kuka pomoću goniometra, Numerička
skala za procjenu intenziteta boli te 10 Meter
Walk Test, Timed Up and Go Test i upitnici Oxford Hip
Score i Harris Hip Score za procjenu funkcionalne sposobnosti.
Mjerenje je provedeno u preoperativnom danu
te treći i deseti postoperativni dan.
Rezultati: Nije dobivena statistički značajna razlika u
preoperativnom mjerenju između skupina. Prisutna je
statistički značajna razlika treći postoperativni dan kod
ispitivane skupine u abdukciji kuka (p=0,001) i Harris
Hip Score testu (p=0,021), te desti postoperativni
dan u abdukciji kuka (p=0,042), 10 Meter Walk Test
(p=0,047), Timed Up and Go Test (p=0,028) te Oxford
Hip Score (p=0,035) i Harris Hip Score (p=0,006).
Zaključak: Properativna fizioterapijska priprema utječe
na povećanje funkcionalne sposobnosti nakon operativnog
zahvata ugradnje totalne endoproteze kuka.
Uvod: Osteoartritis je najučestalija degenerativna bolest zglobova modernoga doba i vodeći uzrok kronične onesposobljenosti u odrasloj dobi.
Cilj: Utvrditi učinkovitost fizioterapijskih vježbi i ...transkutane električne stimulacije, TENS kod pacijenata sa osteoartritisom koljena.
Materijali i metode: Na uzorku od 50 ispitanika sa osteoartitisom koljena kroz 4 tjedna svakodnevno, u trajanju od 35 min provođene su fizioterapijske vježbe i transkutana elektronervna stimulacija (TENS). Na varijablama: opseg fleksije koljena, opseg ekstenzije koljena, osjet boli, jutarnja zakočenost i brzina hoda tražena je razlika rezultata prije i poslije fizioterapijskog vježbanja Studentovim t-testom i Benjamini-Hochberg metodom za korekciju p vrijednosti.
Rezultati: Rezultati prema Cohenovoj interpretaciji, ukazuju na značajnost razlika u svim varijablama prije i poslije fizioterapijskih vježbi i TENS-a. Srednju veličinu efekta imaju razlike varijabli Jutarnja zakočenost i Opseg ekstenzije koljena, a veliku veličinu efekta varijable Osjet boli, Opseg fleksije koljena i Brzina hoda.
Zaključak: Ovo istraživanje je provedeno prema kliničkim smjernicama i pokazalo je učinkovitost fizioterapije u liječenju osteoartritisa koljena primjenom fizioterapijskih vježbi sa TENS.
