The role of nursing faculty members in charge of ethics education is important. Although all nursing students receive the same bioethics education, their experiences differ, related to ethical ...qualification, which depends on the personal socialization process. This Korean study aimed to provide nursing faculty members with the basic data to help them develop as bioethics experts and provide nursing students with knowledge to improve their ethical decision-making abilities. We used a survey design to assess recognition of bioethical issues and ethical qualification in nursing students and faculty members. A total of 1225 undergraduate students and 140 faculty members participated in this study. The results revealed that nursing students and nursing faculty members generally understood the seriousness of various bioethical issues and both considered the most serious issue to concern abortion. Ethical behavior can be improved by education, and accordingly, nursing ethics should be a mandatory subject, rather than an elective one.
Purpose
To examine a psychoeducational intervention's effects on knowledge and attitudes toward antipsychotic medication in clients with schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorders.

A one‐group pretest‐posttest design was employed. A convenience sample (61 psychiatric clients aged 20 or above) was recruited from a Korean mental health center.
Findings
At baseline, participants had limited knowledge (M = 50.89, range: 27–77, SD = 12.05) of and negative feelings toward antipsychotic medications (M = −.89, range: −8 to 8, SD = 4.27). Both measures significantly improved post‐intervention.
Practice Implications
A psychoeducational intervention improved clients' knowledge of and attitudes toward antipsychotic medications.
The aim of this study is to examine the current profile of bioethics education in the nursing curriculum as perceived by nursing students and faculty in Korea. A convenience sampling method was used ...for recruiting 1223 undergraduate nursing students and 140 nursing faculty in Korea. Experience of Bioethics Education, Quality of Bioethics Education, and Demand for Bioethics Education Scales were developed. The Experience of Bioethics Education Scale showed that the nursing curriculum in Korea does not provide adequate bioethics education. The Quality of Bioethics Education Scale revealed that the topics of human nature and human rights were relatively well taught compared to other topics. The Demand for Bioethics Education Scale determined that the majority of the participants believed that bioethics education should be a major requirement in the nursing curriculum. The findings of this study suggest that bioethics should be systemically incorporated into nursing courses, clinical practice during the program, and during continuing education.

Abstract Purpose In a previous study, we compared a prototype ecological display (ED) that represented physiological data in a structured pictorial format with two bar graph displays J.A. Effken, ...Improving clinical decision making through ecological interfaces, Ecol. Psych. 18 (2006) 283–318. In ED and the first bar graph display, data were grouped hierarchically based on a cognitive work analysis (CWA); in the second bar graph display they were grouped as usually collected. Treatment efficiency (i.e., percentage of time seven variables in the CWA model were in target range) improved similarly with the two displays incorporating the CWA order for intensive care unit (ICU) residents, but not for novice ICU nurses. Hypothesized reasons for this result included: insufficient practice with novel displays; use of identical histories across displays; insufficient clinical knowledge; and the variables used in the efficiency analysis, which included only one of ED's four integrated design elements. In the current study we tested these hypotheses. Methods We asked ICU nurses assigned to three knowledge groups based on intensive care and hemodynamic monitoring pretests to identify and treat oxygenation problems presented via ED and the first bar graph display (BGD) in an experimental laboratory simulation. We measured the impact of display, clinical scenario, data level, knowledge, presentation order, and practice extent on event recognition, treatment efficiency, cognitive workload, and user satisfaction. Results The two displays produced little difference in recognition speed or overall cognitive workload, but user satisfaction was greater with ED. When 12 variables were included in the analysis, treatment efficiency improved with ED; when only 7 were measured, BGD prevailed. The results suggest benefits for the kind of synthesis provided in ED, but also a potential limitation. If too many different pictorial formats are used in a display, detecting critical events may be more difficult.
Health promotion (HP) is a multi‐dimensional and complex phenomenon. However, the concept has not been well‐defined and researchers used it in different ways. The aims of this concept analysis are to ...clarify the meaning of an existing concept of HP and to develop a conceptual definition for the research on women with urinary incontinence. The method suggested by Walker and Avant guided this concept analysis. Health promotion is defined as an artistic science whose goal is to enable humans to enhance their health and well‐being through interaction with the environment. Critical attributes of health promotion include enabling and empowering process and activity, multi‐factoral and multi‐dimensional process, health behaviour and healthy lifestyle inseparable with self‐care and concerning disease prevention and health protection. Antecedents include previous decisions and responsibilities on health, beliefs, attitudes, behaviours, and perceptions, change of healthy lifestyle and health challenges. Health‐promoting behaviour, health and well‐being, self‐actualization, equity, change of healthy lifestyle, increased quality of life, self‐awareness, consciousness, balance and stability are the consequences of health promotion. It is recommended that further inquiry in this area should focus on the development of valid measures to accurately evaluate HP in women with urinary incontinence.
The purpose of this study was to test an adapted theoretical model to predict help-seeking behavior (HSB) for urinary incontinence (UI) among Korean American women.
A sample of 149 Korean American ...women with UI was recruited from local religious organizations in Arizona.
This study uses a cross-sectional correlation descriptive design.
Respondents completed 7 instruments: the HSB, Brief Acculturating Rating Scale of Korean American-II, family tradition and authority orientation, incontinence quiz, incontinence severity index, incontinence-specific quality of life (QOL), and social support tool. Respondents either completed questionnaires or they were administered face to face. Descriptive statistics, standardized Cronbach α coefficients, factor analysis, and hierarchical multiple regression were used to analyze data.
Thirty-six percent of variance in HSB was explained by severity of UI, incontinence-specific QOL, and social support in the proposed theoretical framework. Health care support facilitates help seeking among Korean American women who have severe UI symptoms and low UI-specific QOL. Social support from friends, family, and available information facilitates help seeking in this group.
WOC and continence nurses should take an active role to design intervention for Korean American women with UI emphasizing on social support from family and friends and available information in Korean.
