Substance use is a global phenomenon that is particularly affecting the prison population. This study aimed to describe the prevalence of drug use among people in prison before and during ...incarceration in seven European countries and to compare it with the prevalence in the general population. Individual data collection was carried out between 2014 and 2018 with a model European Questionnaire on Drug Use among people in prison. A total of 12,918 people living in prison filled in the survey. People in prison report higher level of drug use when compared with the general population and the use of drug inside prison exist, although at lower levels when compared with predetention. Prisons can represent a point of access to engage individuals who use drugs in interventions that address drug use and risk factors related to both drug use and imprisonment.
Aims: This article presents an overview of the strategies and measures used in the context of school-based prevention in Slovenia, both on a declaratory and on a practical level.
Methods: A review of ...the Resolution on the National Programme on Drugs in the Republic of Slovenia ReNPPD (2004). Resolucija o nacionalnem programu na podro ju drog 2004-2009 Resolution on the 2004-2009 National Programme on Drugs Control, OG. RS, Vol. 28, pp. 3125-3139 is given and followed by a comparison with the guidelines of the European Drug Strategy EU Drugs Strategy 2005-2012 (2005). Retrieved from http://www.emcdda.europa.eu and three other national strategies from three eastern European countries. An analysis of the key problems that emerge in practice is made on the basis of data collected in individual interviews and in focus group interviews.
Findings: On the declaratory level, drug prevention activities in Slovenian schools are mostly in line with the EU guidelines and similar to those in Poland, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. In practice, some discrepancies emerge, since there is neither a national database of programmes nor any programme evaluations in Slovenia; therefore, schools are left to their own judgement in choosing which programme is suitable for them.
Conclusions: The deficiencies create an urgent need to establish a database of programmes and introduce community prevention strategies in schools on the national level.
School is an interesting place for prevention activities, because we can reach a lot of pupils at the same time. In the article, a project is presented in which preventive workshops were implemented ...in a way that enabled active involvement of pupils. Pupils were important coworkers. The evaluation in the middle of the project showed that leaders of preventive workshops established co-creative working relationship with pupils. When planning the workshops, leaders derived from pupil's wishes and needs and together they researched answers on risk situations that were important for pupils. Results have shown that pupils were mostly satisfied with the implementation of preventive workshops. They were satisfied because they were able to influence the content and the way of functioning of preventive workshops, since they could express their opinions and dilemmas. PUBLICATION ABSTRACT

There are no evidence-based guidelines for volume replacement during surgical procedures such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy. However, the administration of a restrictive volume of crystalloids ...could be more cost-effective and safe. This trial aimed to determine the effectiveness and safety of a restrictive regimen of crystalloids in patients during laparoscopic cholecystectomy by analyzing its cost-effectiveness and 1-year morbidity rate.
In this randomized, prospective study, patients were assigned to one of three groups based on the volume of fluid administered: the restrictive group received 1 mL/kg/hr, the low liberal group received 5 mL/kg/hr, and the high liberal group received 15 mL/kg/hr of Ringer's solution intraoperatively. There were 40 patients in each group. Each patient's hemodynamic parameters and laboratory values (arterial blood gas and lactate levels) were measured together with their consumption of crystalloids, volatile anesthetics, and analgesics.
Analysis of the hemodynamic and laboratory parameters revealed no signs of global hypoperfusion in any of the groups analyzed. There was no significant difference in the duration of surgery and anesthesia, but the consumption of crystalloids, volatile anesthetics, and opioids was significantly lower in the restrictive group, compared with the low and high liberal groups. Although there was no significant difference in the 1-year morbidity among the groups, heart failure was observed in one patient in the high liberal group in the early postoperative period.
Restrictive fluid therapy during laparoscopic cholecystectomy is justified, safe, and more cost-effective than other options.
// ABSTRACT IN ENGLISH: The article deals with cooperation and the role of parents in individual original work projects of help which are carried out in the project »The successful integration of children and youth with special needs in raising and education in the period 2008-2011: Background for further development and the implementation of teaching concepts of work problems in elementary school«. Analysis of the process of cooperation and involvement of parents shows how to establish work relationship and collaboration in school and in particular how parents are involved in that relationship. This leads to a new paradigm in the process of education, which primarily requires redefining the dominant roles in the school, which ensures that the process of education, especially school work, takes place mainly in school, in class. This paper provides a discussion about the relevance of medical terminology within the social work context. The authors use the example of dual diagnoses to argue for less stigmatized attitudes ...toward people who become, in the process of help, labeled as people with dual diagnoses. It sets out that using medical terminology in the field of social work is more often a strategy to exclude people from the system of help than as a moment of providing adequate help. It is concluded that social workers do not need the knowledge about diagnoses -- knowing the diagnosis is important only as information that illustrates users' specific experience and perception of reality, the available resources and obstacles that people face in their everyday life. The planning of a social work intervention should be based on an operational definition of everyday life, e.g. how people live through the day, what are the important and valued roles they play in life, what are their wishes and needs.
