Automatic modulation recognition (AMR) is an essential and challenging topic in the development of the cognitive radio (CR), and it is a cornerstone of CR adaptive modulation and demodulation ...capabilities to sense and learn environments and make corresponding adjustments. AMR is essentially a classification problem, and deep learning achieves outstanding performances in various classification tasks. So, this paper proposes a deep learning-based method, combined with two convolutional neural networks (CNNs) trained on different datasets, to achieve higher accuracy AMR. A CNN is trained on samples composed of in-phase and quadrature component signals, otherwise known as in-phase and quadrature samples, to distinguish modulation modes, that are relatively easy to identify. We adopt dropout instead of pooling operation to achieve higher recognition accuracy. A CNN based on constellation diagrams is also designed to recognize modulation modes that are difficult to distinguish in the former CNN, such as 16 quadratic-amplitude modulation (QAM) and 64 QAM, demonstrating the ability to classify QAM signals even in scenarios with a low signal-to-noise ratio.
Extreme hypoxia of tumors represents the most notable barrier against the advance of tumor treatments. Inspired by the biological nature of red blood cells (RBCs) as the primary oxygen supplier in ...mammals, an aggressive man‐made RBC (AmmRBC) is created to combat the hypoxia‐mediated resistance of tumors to photodynamic therapy (PDT). Specifically, the complex formed between hemoglobin and enzyme‐mimicking polydopamine, and polydopamine‐carried photosensitizer is encapsulated inside the biovesicle that is engineered from the recombined RBC membranes. The mean corpuscular hemoglobin of AmmRBCs reaches about tenfold as high as that of natural RBCs. Owing to the same origin of outer membranes, AmmRBCs share excellent biocompatibility with parent RBCs. The introduced polydopamine plays the role of the antioxidative enzymes existing inside RBCs to effectively prevent the oxygen‐carrying hemoglobin from the oxidation damage during the circulation. This biomimetic engineering can accumulate in tumors, permit in situ efficient oxygen supply, and impose strong PDT efficacy toward the extremely hypoxic tumor with complete tumor elimination. The man‐made pseudo‐RBC shows potentials as a universal oxygen‐self‐supplied platform to sensitize hypoxia‐limited tumor treatment means, including but not limited to PDT. Meanwhile, this study offers ideas to the production of artificial substitutes of packed RBCs for clinical blood transfusion.
Aggressive man‐made pseudo‐red blood cells (AmmRBCs) are prepared for self‐oxygen‐supplied photodynamic therapy (PDT) toward tumors. AmmRBCs can accumulate in tumors and exhibit high efficacy to combat hypoxia‐induced resistance of tumors to PDT, leading to complete tumor elimination.
Automatic modulation classification (AMC) is an promising technology for non-cooperative communication systems in both military and civilian scenarios. Recently, deep learning (DL) based AMC methods ...have been proposed with outstanding performances. However, both high computing cost and large model sizes are the biggest hinders for deployment of the conventional DL based methods, particularly in the application of internet-of-things (IoT) networks and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-aided systems. In this correspondence, a novel DL based lightweight AMC (LightAMC) method is proposed with smaller model sizes and faster computational speed. We first introduce a scaling factor for each neuron in convolutional neural network (CNN) and enforce scaling factors sparsity via compressive sensing. It can give an assist to screen out redundant neurons and then these neurons are pruned. Experimental results show that the proposed LightAMC method can effectively reduce model sizes and accelerate computation with the slight performance loss.

With the aim of ...achieving diverse performance improvements for the various 6G requirements, five 6G core services are identified. Two centricities and eight key performance indices (KPIs) are detailed to describe these services, then enabling technologies to fulfill the KPIs are discussed. A 6G architecture is proposed as an integrated system of the enabling technologies and is then illustrated using four typical urban application scenarios. Potential challenges in the development of 6G technology are then discussed and possible solutions are proposed. Finally, opportunities for exploring 6G are analyzed in order to guide future research.
To engineer patient‐derived cells into therapy‐purposed biologics is a promising solution to realize personalized treatments. Without using gene‐editing technology, a live cell‐typed therapeutic is ...engineered for tumor treatment by artificially reprogramming macrophages with hyaluronic acid‐decorated superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (HIONs). This nanoparticle‐assisted cell‐reprogramming strategy demonstrates profound advantages, due to the combined contributions from the biological regulation of HIONs and the intrinsic nature of macrophages. Firstly, the reprogrammed macrophages present a substantial improvement in their innate capabilities, such as more effective tumor targeting and more efficient generation of bioactive components (e.g., reactive oxygen species, bioactive cytokines) to suppress tumor growth. Furthermore, this cell therapeutic exhibits cytostatic/proapoptotic effects specific to cancer cells. Secondly, HIONs enable macrophages more resistant to the intratumoral immunosuppressive environment. Thirdly, the macrophages are endowed with a strong ability to prime in situ protumoral M2 macrophages into antitumor M1 phenotype in a paracrine‐like manner. Consequently, a synergistic tumor‐inhibition effect is achieved. This study shows that engineering nanomaterial‐reprogrammed live cells as therapeutic biologics may be a more preferable option to the commonly used approaches where nanomaterials are administrated to induce bioresponse of certain cells in vivo.
A live cell‐typed therapeutic is engineered for tumor treatment by reprogramming macrophages with HION nanoparticles. The advantage of this ex vivo cell‐reprogramming strategy is evidenced by cancer‐cell‐specific toxicity, more efficient production of bioactive components, stronger resistance against intratumoral immunosuppression, and favorable ability to prime in situ protumoral M2 macrophages into antitumor M1 phenotype in a paracrine‐like manner.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerging infectious disease that spreads around the world. The lack of effective antiviral drugs and vaccines, along with the relatively high mortality ...rate and high contagiousness, has raised strong public concerns over COVID-19, especially for people living in the most severely affected areas. This study aimed to clarify the influencing factors for the anxiety level among the Chinese people during the COVID-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on the media exposure to different COVID-19 information.
A total of 4991 respondents were randomly recruited from a national online panel from February 12th, 2020 to February 14th, 2020, a period when the number of COVID-19 cases surpassed 10,000 in a single day, with the total cases in China reaching up to 90,000. The relationships between media exposure of COVID-19 information, social and geographical proximity to COVID-19, risk perceptions were assessed using hierarchical ordinary least squares regression analysis.
The media exposure to COVID-19 information was differently associated with anxiety. Meanwhile, the anxiety level was found to be high in respondents who personally knew someone infected with COVID-19 or those who living in an area with reported cases. Respondents who perceived more risks also reported a higher level of anxiety.
This study highlights the role of media exposure in affecting individuals' anxiety level during the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, it is recommended that government and health professionals are recommended to adopt effective risk communication strategies to protect citizens' mental health during the pandemic.
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) was a novel tick-borne bunyavirus that caused hemorrhagic fever with a high fatality rate in East Asia. In this study we analyzed the ...complete genome sequences of 122 SFTSV strains to determine the phylogeny, evolution and reassortment of the virus. We revealed that the evolutionary rate of three genome segments were different, with highest in the S segment and lowest in the L segment. The SFTSV strains were phylogenetically classified into 5 lineages (A, B, C, D and E) with each genome segment. SFTSV strains from China were classified in all 5 lineages, strains from South Korea were classified into 3 lineages (A, D, and E), and all strains from Japan were classified in only linage E. Using the average evolutionary rate of the three genome segments, we found that the extant SFTSV originated 20-87 years ago in the Dabie Mountain area in central China. The viruses were then transmitted to other areas of China, Japan and South Korea. We also found that six SFTSV strains were reassortants. Selection pressure analysis suggested that SFTSV was under purifying selection according to the four genes (RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, glycoprotein, nucleocapsid protein, non-structural protein), and two sites (37, 1033) of glycoproteins were identified as being under strong positive selection. We concluded that SFTSV originated in central China and spread to other places recently and the virus was under purifying selection with high frequency of reassortment.
