Resumo Neste texto, percorrem-se os mapas desenhados por comunidades do povo Hupd’äh durante a elaboração do Plano de Gestão Territorial e Ambiental da Terra Indígena Alto Rio Negro (PGTA), entre ...2015 e 2019. Recentemente, trabalhos de mapeamento tomaram relevo nas comunidades, seja como demanda para a incorporação em atividades escolares, seja como mediadores em discussões mais amplas. O exercício proposto é o de realizar uma descrição etnográfica da produção destes desenhos, buscando delinear possibilidades de leitura antropológica. O texto é divido em quatro tópicos. Inicialmente, são apresentadas informações contextuais e históricas sobre os Hupd’äh, passando a uma breve descrição das oficinas realizadas nos trabalhos do PGTA. O cerne do texto trata dos mapas propriamente ditos, trazendo o processo de desenhar, a territorialidade que indicam seus traços, lugares, toponímias e histórias que compõem essas iconografias de n¯ih s’ah (‘nossa terra’). O tópico final pontua algumas leituras possíveis dessas iconografias como experiências compartilhadas entre anciãos e jovens e como uma linguagem possível para a afirmação territorial.
Abstract This text describes and analyses maps drawn by communities of the Hupd’äh indigenous people during the Plano de Gestão Territorial e Ambiental da Terra Indígena Alto Rio Negro (PGTA), between 2015 and 2019. Recently, participatory mapping has gained prominence in the communities, either as a demand for incorporation into school activities or as mediation in broader discussions. The purpose of the exercise is an ethnographic description of the production of these drawings, seeking to outline possible anthropological readings. This article is divided into four parts. Initially, contextual information is presented, followed by a brief description of the work carried out in the PGTA. The core of the text analyses the maps, describing the process of drawing, the territoriality that indicates their traits, the places, toponyms and stories that form these iconographies of n¯ih s’ah (‘our land’). The final topic highlights some possible readings of these iconographies both as shared experiences between elders and young people and as a possible language to assert territorial rights.
This article analyses an audiovisual essay created around the exhibition Julião Sarmento. Film Works, that took place in Universidade Católica Portuguesa in Porto in 2019. This exhibition reunited 10 ...works in film and video produced by the Portuguese artist in different moments of his career. Following the audiovisual essay’s structure, I will approach three thematic obsessions transversal to Julião Sarmento’s work, as a reflexive proposal about a gaze phenomenology (or a vision’s perversity), regarding dispositives that involve the moving image. Particularly, in what concerns the problematic of desire. These are: (1) The constant work of language (the real, the symbolic and the imaginary); (2) The fragmented body (the conscience/disassembling of voyeurism); (3) The rhythm (exposing the matter of time in favor of a deceptive aesthetics).
Clinical studies have shown a correlation between thyroid disorders and cardiac diseases. High levels of triiodothyronine (T3) induce cardiac hypertrophy, a risk factor for cardiac complications and ...heart failure. Previous results have demonstrated that angiotensin‐(1‐7) is able to block T3‐induced cardiac hypertrophy; however, the molecular mechanisms involved in this event have not been fully elucidated. Here, we evidenced the contribution of FOXO3 signaling to angiotensin‐(1‐7) effects. Angiotensin‐(1‐7) treatment increased nuclear FOXO3 levels and reduced p‐FOXO3 levels (inactive form) in isolated cardiomyocytes. Knockdown of FOXO3 by RNA silencing abrogated the antihypertrophic effect of angiotensin‐(1‐7). Increased expression of antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1 and catalase) and lower levels of reactive oxygen species and nuclear factor‐κB (NF‐κB) were observed after angiotensin‐(1‐7) treatment in vitro. Consistent with these results, transgenic rats overexpressing angiotensin‐(1‐7) displayed increased nuclear FOXO3 and SOD1 levels and reduced NF‐κB levels in the heart. These results provide a new molecular mechanism responsible for the antihypertrophic effect of angiotensin‐(1‐7), which may contribute to future therapeutic targets.
Angiotensin‐(1‐7) prevents cardiac hypertrophy observed in hyperthyroidism. Angiotensin‐(1‐7) effects are associated with increased SOD1 and catalase and decreased reactive oxygen species and nuclear factor‐kB. FOXO3 signaling mediates anti‐hypertrophic action of angiotensin‐(1‐7) in cardiomyocytes.
The present study evaluated whether topiramate (TPM) treatment during the peripubertal period affects vascular parameters of male rats and whether oxidative stress plays a role in these changes.
Rats ...were treated with TPM (41 mg/kg/day, gavage) or vehicle (CTR group) from the postnatal day (PND) 28 to 50. At PND 51 and 120 the rats were evaluated for: thoracic aorta reactivity to phenylephrine, in the presence (Endo+) or absence of endothelium (Endo-), to acetylcholine and to sodium nitroprusside (SNP), aortic thickness and endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) expression. In serum were analyzed: the antioxidant capacity by ferric reducing antioxidant power assay; endogenous antioxidant reduced glutathione, and superoxide anion. Results were expressed as mean ± s.e.m., differences when p < 0.05. Statistics: Two-way ANOVA (and Tukey's) or Student t-test.
At PND 51, the contraction induced by phenylephrine in Endo+ ring was higher in TPM when compared to CTR. At PND 120, the aortic sensitivity to acetylcholine in TPM rats was reduced in comparison with CTR. The aortic eNOs expression and the aortic thickness were similar between the groups. At PND 51 and 120, TPM group presented a decrease in antioxidants when compared to CTR groups and at PND 120, in TPM group the superoxide anion was increased.
Taken together, the treatment of rats with TPM during peripubertal period promoted permanent impairment of endothelial function probably mediated by oxidative stress.
The failure of polymer composites is complex due to the independent and interacting damage mechanisms. The availability of several failure criteria demands a reasonable discernment of each criterion ...in order to obtain a consistent response to make an assertive selection. The importance of this decision is present in simulation works using finite element method and it is of particular interest of the industry and designers, once an optimized project is the goal. This study regards a carbon/epoxy laminate based on plain weave fabric subjected to tensile load and numerical simulations using finite element method was applied to compare the widely used Maximum Stress, Tsai-Wu, Hoffman, Tsai-Hill, Hashin and Puck failure criteria. Experimental tensile tests were carried out and fractographic analysis was performed in order to validate the finite element model and the applicability of the failure criteria. The model presented a good agreement with the experimental results and the correlation between the fractographic analysis and the failure criteria results allowed to select the Puck criterion as the proper and adequate for the studied composite laminate subjected to tensile load.

Stroke consists of an abrupt reduction of cerebral blood flow resulting in hypoxia that triggers an excitotoxicity, oxidative stress, and neuroinflammation. After the ischemic process, neural precursor cells present in the subventricular zone of the lateral ventricle and subgranular zone of the dentate gyrus proliferate and migrate towards the lesion, contributing to the brain repair. The neurogenesis is induced by signal transduction pathways, growth factors, attractive factors for neuroblasts, transcription factors, pro and anti-inflammatory mediators and specific neurotransmissions. However, this endogenous neurogenesis occurs slowly and does not allow a complete restoration of brain function. Despite that, understanding the mechanisms of neurogenesis could improve the therapeutic strategies for brain repair. This review presents the current knowledge about brain repair process after stroke and the perspectives regarding the development of promising therapies that aim to improve neurogenesis and its potential to form new neural networks.

Visual odometry (VO) is an important problem studied in robotics and computer vision in which the relative camera motion is computed through visual information. In this work, we propose to reduce the ...error accumulation of a dual stereo VO system (4 cameras) computing 6 degrees of freedom poses by fusing two independent stereo odometry with a nonlinear optimization. Our approach computes two stereo odometries employing the LIBVISO2 algorithm and later merge them by using image correspondences between the stereo pairs and minimizing the reprojection error with graph-based bundle adjustment. Experiments carried out on the KITTI odometry datasets show that our method computes more accurate estimates (measured as the Relative Positioning Error) in comparison to the traditional stereo odometry (stereo bundle adjustment). In addition, the proposed method has a similar or better odometry accuracy compared to ORB-SLAM2 and UCOSLAM algorithms.

Al
N multilayers, motivated by improving the low-emission efficiency when applied on ...gas-nitrided diesel piston rings of a next-generation of combustion engines. In order to improve the mechanical, tribological, and corrosion behavior of the multilayers, the hybrid dcMS/HiPIMS process was designed by selecting the optimal sputtering procedure applied to AISI 440 base steel. The effect of substrate bias and carousel rotational speed on the phase composition, crystallographic texture, residual stresses, surface roughness, coating periodicity and densification, instrumented hardness, elastic modulus, as well as wear and corrosion resistance was determined. The results have demonstrated that hybrid magnetron sputtering produces multilayers with a superlattice structure, which outperforms commercial PVD coatings of CrN for diesel piston rings manufactured by cathodic arc evaporation. Also, multilayer periodicities in the range of 5 to 10 nm yield the best tribological performance under bench tests for the piston ring/cylinder liner system.
