Theoretical framework--For the investigation of organizational commitment, we used the three-component model (TCM) (Meyer & Allen, 1991) and the commitment profiles approach (Meyer, Stanley, & ...Parfyonova, 2012). For the investigation of managerial innovation and people management practices focused on innovation, we considered the contributions of Laursen and Foss (2011) and Lopes (2017), as well as other studies from the national and international literature. Practical & social implications of research--The main theoretical contributions were the outlining of organizational commitment profiles and highlighting of people management practices focused on innovation with predictive power in relation to such profiles, which may suggest, for management, the strengthening of practices focused on innovation that promote workers' commitment at public universities.
This article investigates how consumers perceive the trade-offs involved in sustainable consumption. It consists of an exploratory field study, with a qualitative approach, in which 9 consumers who ...declared themselves adept at sustainable consumption were interviewed. Most of the interviewees were aware that there are trade-offs involved in this consumption. Nevertheless, it was observed that they tend to simplify the concepts addressed, emphasizing the environmental aspect, in particular, the disposal of waste. This trend is reflected in consumption practices, which are highly focused on reuse to the detriment of other aspects of sustainability such as saving resources and non-consumption.
Resumo Este artigo objetiva investigar a inovação gerencial e as práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação em 2 universidades federais. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, descritiva e de ...campo. Os principais resultados apontam que as práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação com mais destaque foram “delegação” e “treinamento”. Ademais, 55,7% dos respondentes perceberam a inovação gerencial no contexto pesquisado, notadamente na área de gestão de pessoas. Evidenciaram-se contribuições para o conhecimento científico, ao investigar a inovação gerencial e de práticas voltadas à inovação no setor público, tema ainda pouco explorado na literatura; para a gestão de pessoas, ao investigar práticas da área; e para a prática de gestores, ao investigar tais fenômenos em áreas e categorias funcionais distintas.
Resumen Este artículo tuvo como objetivo investigar la innovación gerencial y las prácticas de gestión de personas centradas en la innovación en dos universidades federales. Fue una investigación cuantitativa, descriptiva y de campo. Los principales resultados mostraron que las prácticas de gestión de personas enfocadas a la innovación con mayor protagonismo fueron delegación y formación. Además, el 55,7% de los encuestados percibió la innovación gerencial en el contexto investigado, especialmente en el área de gestión de personas. Los aportes al conocimiento científico se evidenciaron en la investigación de la innovación y prácticas gerenciales orientadas a la innovación en el sector público, tema que aún está poco explorado en la literatura; para la gestión de personas, al investigar prácticas del área; y para la práctica de los gestores, al investigar tales fenómenos en diferentes áreas y categorías funcionales.
Abstract This article aimed to investigate managerial innovation and people management practices focused on innovation at two federal universities. The study was quantitative and descriptive and included field research. The main results showed that the people management practices focused on innovation with more prominence were delegation and training. In addition, 55.7% of respondents perceived managerial innovation in the researched context, notably in the area of people management. Contributions to scientific knowledge were evidenced, in the investigation of managerial innovation and practices aimed at innovation in the public sector, a theme that is still little explored in the literature; for people management, when investigating practices in the area; and for the practice of managers, when investigating such phenomena in different areas and functional categories.
This study aimed to investigate the influence of human resources practices on organizational commitment in its three dimensions. The research was carried out in a supermarket chain that operates in ...the Brazilian retail sector. Questionnaires were applied with the supermarket employees and the final sample is composed of 521 valid responses. Descriptive statistics, exploratory factorial analysis and structural equation modeling were applied. The results evidenced that affective commitment is influenced by the work conditions, and the practice of competency-based performance appraisal influences continuance commitment, while the compensation and reward practice positively affects the normative commitment. This study contributes to the effectiveness of human resources practices and evidences the consistency of the application of the three-component model of commitment in Brazil.
Resumo Objetivo Este estudo teve como objetivo investigar se a inovação gerencial e as práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação atuam como antecedentes de perfis de comprometimento ...organizacional. Referencial teórico Para a investigação do comprometimento organizacional, utilizaram-se o modelo de três dimensões (TCM) (Meyer & Allen, 1991) e a abordagem de perfis de comprometimento (Meyer, Stanley & Parfyonova, 2012). Para a investigação da inovação gerencial e práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação, consideraram-se as contribuições de Laursen e Foss (2011) e Lopes (2017), além de outros estudos da literatura nacional e internacional. Metodologia Trata-se de uma pesquisa quantitativa, explicativa e de campo, que utilizou um questionário sociodemográfico e escalas Likert, com amostra de 470 trabalhadores. O campo de pesquisa consistiu em duas universidades federais, em dez campi, localizadas no nordeste brasileiro. Para a análise dos dados, utilizaram-se a estatística descritiva, a análise fatorial exploratória, a análise de perfil latente e regressões logísticas binárias. Resultados Identificaram-se quatro perfis de comprometimento organizacional: descomprometidos; comprometidos de combinação afetivo-continuação; moderados; e comprometidos afetivamente. Apenas as práticas de delegação e incentivos tangíveis e intangíveis atuaram como antecedentes para determinados perfis. Implicações práticas e sociais da pesquisa As principais contribuições teóricas foram: o delineamento de perfis de comprometimento organizacional e o destaque das práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação com poder preditivo em relação a tais perfis, o que pode sugerir, para a gestão, o fortalecimento de práticas voltadas à inovação que promovam o comprometimento dos trabalhadores nas universidades públicas. Contribuições A originalidade da pesquisa consiste em abordar perfis de comprometimento organizacional, articulando-os à inovação gerencial e práticas de gestão de pessoas voltadas à inovação, que busca contribuir para o preenchimento de lacunas de pesquisa em nível nacional.
The present study aims to analyze how the permanence of teachers within public education is affected by entrenchment, according to the three dimensions of Carson, Carson, and Bedeian (1995). We ...describe the trajectory of teachers through their occupational embeddedness; investigate how the investments in the career made by the teacher help him or her to remain in the career; identify emotional aspects that may be related to career permanence; and analyze the possible alternatives of permanence in the teaching career. This research is characterized as qualitative and descriptive, conducted through semi-structured interviews with 15 teachers from basic education in the State of Ceará, Brazil. The results indicate that occupational embeddedness mainly stemmed from familiarity with the chosen discipline and the sense of vocation with the teaching work; the most significant investment that keeps individuals in the teaching profession is the security of holding a public office; the positive emotional aspect that stood out the most was the possibility of transforming the lives of the students, irrespective of negative situations experienced in the classroom. Finally, it was possible to conclude that teachers perceive several career alternatives within teaching and that, if they stopped teaching, it related to financial issues or educational reforms coming from political decisions.
The objective of this research was to analyze the beliefs normative, behavioral, and perceived control related to teaching in the prison environment, from the perspective of the Theory of Planned ...Behavior (Ajzen, 1991). It is exploratory, descriptive research, with a qualitative approach. Eight semi-structured interviews were carried out, with teaching agents working in the education of youth and adults and projects related to education in prison in the metropolitan region of Fortaleza - Ceará. The content of the interviews was analyzed through content analysis. The results indicated that the planned behavior of teaching in the prison environment of the interviewees is guided by three types of beliefs: behavioral, normative and perceived control. The results add information about teaching in the prison environment, contributing to the area of education, by providing an understanding of the role of teachers in an environment provided with stigma and prejudice; and management, since the prison units are public institutions that deal with social projects, whose dynamics are driven by contingencies intrinsic to this environment, by disciplinary power and by normalization. Also, the importance of the Theory of Planned Behavior is reinforced as an adequate theoretical model to predict human behavior.
ResumoEste trabalho investigou o Comprometimento Organizacional nas bases afetiva, normativa e instrumental, de acordo com o modelo de Meyer e Allen (1991), e mais dois vínculos - Entrincheiramento e ...Consentimento Organizacionais. O objetivo foi analisar os significados atribuídos por gestores a esses três vínculos, explorando seus elementos distintivos. A pesquisa foi conduzida pelo método qualitativo, através de entrevistas semiestruturadas com 20 gestores. O roteiro investigava os dados pessoais e o conceito atribuído a cada um dos vínculos. Para isso, utilizou-se, como recurso, a apresentação de fichas escritas com noções sobre cada construto. Os dados foram analisados pela análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontaram que comprometimento refere-se a aspectos positivos, às noções de envolvimento e motivação. O entrincheiramento foi relacionado ao medo de mudar de organização para não arriscar a estabilidade já adquirida. Demonstrou, ainda, ser um vínculo instrumental que aprisiona o sujeito, levando-o ao desenvolvimento de uma relação de dependência e acomodação. O consentir indicou submissão às relações de poder e autoridade, insatisfação com o trabalho e a organização. Concluiu-se que os três vínculos se diferenciam conceitualmente e indicam influenciar distintamente a relação entre indivíduo e organização.
AbstractThis work investigated Organizational Commitment based on the three component model - affective, normative and continuance - introduced by Meyer and Allen (1991) and two constructs - Organizational Entrenchment and Consent. The objective was analysis of the meaning attributed by managers to three links, exploring their distinct elements. The research was carried out through the use of qualitative analysis of interviews with 20 managers. The interview script investigated personal data and the concepts attributed to each link. Data was submitted to content analysis. Results highlighted that managers have very different conceptual structures for the three constructs. Commitment was considered a positive tie, indicating engagement and motivation. In a different way, entrenchment was related to fear of changing organizations, in that changing jobs risks existing stability. Entrenchment turned out to be an instrumental tie that imprisons the subject and leads to development of a relationship of dependency and accommodation. Consent fit better into the idea of submission to power and authority relationships, and being unsatisfied with work and the organization. In conclusion, the three links are different in conceptual terms and indicate distinctive influence on relationships between individuals and organizations.
Objetivo: No atual estudo, a relação entre comprometimento organizacional, considerado como os laços psicológicos entre trabalhador e organização, e estilos de liderança foi investigada a partir da ...função da cultura organizacional nessa relação.Método/abordagem: O estudo se constituiu como survey, de corte transversal, aplicado em uma organização em Fortaleza/CE, com uma amostra de 205 trabalhadores.Contribuições: Foram atestadas as seguintes correlações positivas e significativas: liderança transformacional com os laços de comprometimento afetivo, futuro comum e comprometimento normativo; liderança transacional com o laço de comprometimento normativo; ausência de liderança com os laços de escassez de alternativas e ausência psicológica. A cultura organizacional tipo clã atuou como variável moderadora reduzindo os efeitos nas relações seguintes: liderança transformacional e comprometimento afetivo e entre liderança transformacional e futuro comum, o que sugere que aspectos como informalidade excessiva, poucos níveis hierárquicos e excesso de familiares em posições de liderança podem enfraquecer a relação entre liderança transformacional e os laços de comprometimento afetivo e futuro comum.Originalidade/relevância: Foi desenvolvido, também, um modelo teórico-metodológico com todos os elementos pesquisados.
