Teaching literature equips learners with the knowledge and skills of appreciating literary works. Learners are expected to be able to feel and enjoy the beauty of literary works. Teaching literary ...appreciation still experiences obstacles due to limited time allocation and teacher skills. Such constraints occur in face-to-face teaching of literature appreciation, and are likely to occur in open and distance learning. It is very interesting to study considering that teachers and students in open and distance learning do not meet face-to-face in the classroom. This article describes the teaching of Indonesian literature appreciation in open and distance education. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected from the subject matter books of PBIN 4213 Poetry, PBIN 4217 Drama, and PBIN 4219 Teaching Literary Appreciation, as well as archives of their teaching implementation at the Universitas Terbuka. The teaching materials from the three subject matter books were analyzed and juxtaposed with the teaching process delivered through asynchronous online tutorials. The results of the analysis show that teaching Indonesian literature appreciation can be implemented in open and distance universities through online tutorials.
Kang Nurya's persistence in preserving buffalo as the hanged treasure is the center of the story discussed in the "Harta Gantungan" storiette. Although the neck swelling could take his life, Kang ...Nurya believes that death is a human cycle and chooses not to seek medical treatment. Kang Nurya believes that the consequences of medical expenses will have implications for the sale of his favorite buffalo, which is actually prepared for the cost of taking care of his body later. A discussion about this then took place with Markotob, who also believes that death is a destiny that must be faced. However, the way to prepare for it is not like Kang Nurya's thinking. The dialog between the two brings out the balance of views on the concept of death. The purpose of this research is to find the balance through harmonization and harmony of life based on the author's worldview. The theory used is Lucien Goldmann's genetic structuralism and Mukařovský's literary aesthetics with a literary sociology approach. The research result shows that there is a harmonization and live conformity that appear on that storiette, and that is the world view of Ahmad Tohari. Internal conflict in Kang Nurya is moderated by Markotob, showing the discussion about the meaning of death. Both have the same view about death but with different thinking methods. Even though Kang Nurya is stubborn, Markotob still respects him. Moreover, in the end, Kang Nurya did not know that his death did not use the hanged treasure that he had taken care of at all.
Background: Early detection of postpartum problems can help reduce maternal mortality in Indonesia. Early detection can be achieved by monitoring postpartum mothers using a guidance system. The ...purpose of this study was to describe the development of a guidance system, namely, Smart Postpartum Care (SMAP CARE) and present its functional and acceptance tests. Materials and Methods: This study was a development study conducted in 2019 using a mixed-method approach. Data were collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and a literature study. The FGD participants consisted of six doctors, six nurses, and midwives from six community health Public health center in Semarang City, Indonesia. The collected data were analyzed using the Colaizzi method. The content of the postpartum mentoring application was based on input from the experts in health education and health services. Before widely applied, a feasibility study on the application was carried out in community health centers involving postpartum mothers and health care teams. Results: Five themes were generated from FGDs: (1) postpartum monitoring facilities; (2) monitoring postpartum mothers through visits to health centers and home care; (3) problems with postpartum mothers (including problems with mothers, babies, and the environment); (4) management of high-risk postpartum mothers; and (5) the risk of postpartum mothers, which could cause death. The SMAP CARE provides some features to educate postpartum mothers, for example (a) changes in the physiological aspects of postpartum mothers, (b) breast milk, (c) newborn care, (d) signs of danger in newborns, (e) problems with babies, (f) problems with postpartum mothers, and (g) signs of danger in postpartum mothers. Conclusions: The application developed in this research, SMAP CARE, helps to facilitate mentoring for postpartum mothers and can be extended to community health centers in Indonesia.
The purpose this article is to obtain a representation of the idea of Chinese ethnic assimilation as a form of life harmony in the novel Di Kaki Bukit Cibalak (DKBC) based on the author's worldview. ...This article is qualitative research with descriptive analysis and a literary sociology approach based on Goldmann's genetic structuralism theory, Lotman's semiotics, and Mukařovskŷ backpack's literary aesthetics. In addition to finding the author's worldview, the text of DKBC is also seen as a dynamic aesthetic object. The primary data source is the novel DKBC by Ahmad Tohari; the secondary data source is articles and some reference literature related to diversity and harmonization. The stages of analysis were carried out using the first-level semiotic reading (heuristic) and continued with the second-level semiotic reading (hermeneutic). The results show an effort to build diversity and harmonization through blending, leading to life harmony. The emergence of Mulyani's perspective, which is different from her mother's in the novel DKBC, represents the complex and heterogeneous side of human life. The assimilation of ethnic Chinese is an important message about diversity and heterogeneity in Ahmad Tohari's novels. In such a context, the harmony of life represents ideas that the author voices well.
In the present study, the effects of human physiological activity levels on the fatigue life of a porous magnesium scaffold have been investigated. First, the dynamic immersion and biomechanical ...testing are carried out on a porous magnesium scaffold to simulate the physiological conditions. Then, a numerical data analysis and computer simulations predict the implant failure values. A 3D CAD bone scaffold model was used to predict the implant fatigue, based on the micro-tomographic images. This study uses a simulation of solid mechanics and fatigue, based on daily physiological activities, which include walking, running, and climbing stairs, with strains reaching 1000–3500 µm/mm. The porous magnesium scaffold with a porosity of 41% was put through immersion tests for 24, 48, and 72 h in a typical simulated body fluid. Longer immersion times resulted in increased fatigue, with cycles of failure (Nf) observed to decrease from 4.508 × 1022 to 2.286 × 1011 (1.9 × 1011 fold decrease) after 72 hours of immersion with a loading rate of 1000 µm/mm. Activities played an essential role in the rate of implant fatigue, such as demonstrated by the 1.1 × 105 fold increase in the Nf of walking versus stair climbing at 7.603 × 1011 versus 6.858 × 105, respectively. The dynamic immersion tests could establish data on activity levels when an implant fails over time. This information could provide a basis for more robust future implant designs.
Physical disability due to amputation can affect a person's quality of life due to limited movement in performing daily activities. Bionic hands are used to help someone with an amputation ...disability. This research developed a bionic hand control based on electroencephalography sensors capable of measuring the brain's bioelectric activity. The classified brain wave was then translated as activity pattern information. The alpha & beta waves were the focus of this work. This study demonstrated a method to extract and classify motor imagery of brainwave activity patterns. The Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method extracts motor imagery characteristics. The extraction of features is then classified by the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) method for five classes of bionic hand movement. Testing was conducted with two scenarios. The first test motor imagery without additional movement showed an accuracy of 77.20 %, while the second test motor imagery combined with head movement showed an accuracy of 84.40% for five classes. The system based on motor imagery has been implemented in a bionic hand that shows the applicability of the proposed method.
Due to various concerns about the use of metal-on-metal that is detrimental to users, the use of metal as acetabular cup material was later changed to ultra high molecular weight polyethylene ...(UHMWPE). However, the wear on UHMWPE releases polyethylene wear particles, which can trigger a negative body response and contribute to osteolysis. For reducing the wear of polyethylene, one of the efforts is to investigate the selection of metal materials. Cobalt chromium molybdenum (CoCrMo), stainless steel 316L (SS 316L), and titanium alloy (Ti6Al4V) are the frequently employed materials. The computational evaluation of contact pressure was carried out using a two-dimensional axisymmetric model for UHMWPE acetabular cup paired with metal femoral head under gait cycle in this study. The results show Ti6Al4V-on-UHMWPE is able to reduce cumulative contact pressure compared to SS 316L-on-UHMWPE and CoCrMo-on-UHMWPE. Compared to Ti6Al4V-on-UHMWPE at peak loading, the difference in cumulative contact pressure to respective maximum contact pressure is 9.740% for SS 316L-on-UHMWPE and 11.038% for CoCrMo-on-UHMWPE.
This paper proposes a simple degradation model that estimates morphological changes in pure iron scaffolding due to surface erosion. The main contribution of this work is to estimate the degradation ...of porous pure iron scaffolding and analyze the impact of morphological changes on mechanical properties. In this study, the pure iron scaffolding model was designed in CAD software with 3 different porosity such as 30%, 41%, and 55% respectively. The geometry images of CAD models with a resolution of 3316 x 5530 pixels are captured layer by layer with a thickness of 0.02 mm. The purpose of this method is to replace the function of the u-CT scanning technique. Two-dimensional morphological erosion is applied to reduce the number of pixels of the image model. This erosion process is adjusted iteratively with increasing number of pixels to erode the image model until the volume of the scaffold after reconstruction matches the volume of the model undergoing mathematical calculations. Their changes in the volume of scaffold geometry and degradation of mechanical properties were evaluated using finite element analysis. This study found that mechanical properties such as elastic modulus and yield strength decreased systematically during the 19 week degradation period. In addition, deformation analysis is performed on models based on finite element analysis.
