Despite the rising interest in environmental strategies, few studies have examined how managerial cognition of such strategies influences actual innovation capability development. Taking a managerial ...cognition perspective, this study investigates how managers' perceptions of institutional pressures relate to their focus on proactive environmental strategy, which in turn affects firms' realized innovation capability. The findings from a primary survey and three secondary datasets of publicly listed companies in China reveal that managers' perceived business and social pressures are positively associated with their focus on proactive environmental strategy, which consequently fosters innovation capability development. Moreover, state ownership and government administrative control weaken the impact of managerial focus on proactive environmental strategy on innovation capability. These findings have important implications for how managerial cognition supports environmental strategy and organizational capability building under the influence of institutional pressures and government intervention.

However, the continuous improvement of the scale and quantity of electric power projects increases the overall difficulty of power supply and distribution management. To be specific, not only modern control technology needs to be applied and advanced power supply & consumption equipment needs to be used, but also scientific and rational power supply & distribution scheme needs to be formulated to ensure the operation reliability of distribution network. In view of this, the paper studies the safety management of power enterprises. First of all, it sets out the defining scope of high-risk customers with the high-risk customers of regional grid acting as the study object, and then, it points out the power supply & distribution safety management problem of high-risk customers, finally, it proposes safe power supply management measures and optimization suggestions from technology, equipment, personnel and management, hoping to provide the practitioners concerned with reference.
Why are men less likely to use electronic coupons than women? Previous studies have explained the gender difference in coupon usage by exploring roles within the household and personality traits of ...the sexes. However, this research offers a novel explanation for this phenomenon, that men’s reluctance to use e-coupons may derive from the prevalent stereotype that e-coupon users are feminine. Because of the feminine stereotype associated with e-coupon usage, acquiring and using e-coupons are inconsistent with men’s gender identity. Five studies combining real data analysis, an online survey and experiments are used to support the previous notion. Using e-coupon acquisition data from a platform, study 1 tests whether females are more likely to acquire and use e-coupons than males in the real world. Study 2 experimentally tests the coupon–feminine stereotype. Study 3 explores the mediation effect of gender identity threat. Study 4 and study 5 consider two boundary conditions under which male consumers may be motivated to use e-coupons: when male consumers’ masculine identity is affirmed, and when the association between e-coupons and femininity is weakened. The results explain the gender difference in e-coupon usage from the novel lens of the coupon–feminine stereotype, offering a new and important perspective to explore the effect of gender identity on coupon use. Practical implications such as breaking the coupon–feminine stereotype, adopting a masculine design and communicating an affirmation of gender identity are further discussed.
This study mainly explores the relationship between company governance, company operation characteristics, management connection and corporate environmental investment. Based on the theory of ...stakeholders and principal-agent, it expounds the factors affecting the environmental behavior of companies, and empirically tests the relationship of the involved variables. This study takes the non-financial listed companies of Shanghai Stock Exchange from 2009 to 2011 as a sample, and conducts empirical research on corporate governance, business operation characteristics, management connection and corporate environmental protection investment. The results show that under the same circumstances, if the CEO is also the chairman of the board of directors, it will lead to opportunistic situation of the controlling shareholder, and the degree of willingness to invest in environmental preservation is low, which is negatively related to environmental protection investment. The more redundant resources or the higher the production efficiency exist, the higher the willingness of enterprises to invest in environmental protection will be stimulated.
Composite erosion caused by snowmelt and rainfall causes considerable soil loss during spring thawing. However, research on the impact of frozen soil layers (FSL) on composite erosion is lacking. ...Therefore, indoor simulation experiments were conducted on soil conditions of 0 cm (unfrozen soil, FSLUN) and 3 cm thawing depths to explore the influence of FSL on composite erosion in the black soil region of Northeast China. Three snowmelt runoff (SR) discharges (0.34 L min−1, 0.5 L min−1, and 0.67 L min−1), three rainfall (RF) intensities (80 mm h−1, 120 mm h−1, and 160 mm h−1), and three snowmelt–rainfall interactions (SRI; 0.34 L min−1–80 mm h−1, 0.5 L min−1–120 mm h−1, and 0.67 L min−1–160 mm h−1) were used in this study. The results indicate that FSL advanced the initial erosion times of SR, RF, and SRI by 42.06%, 43.33%, and 45.83%, respectively. FSL increased the soil erosion rate (SER) of SRI by 1.2 (1.0–1.6) times that of unfrozen soil, which was smaller than that of SR (16.3, 5.6–25.0) and RF (1.7, 1.6–1.9), indicating that the interaction had an inhibitory effect on the increase in water erosion in the frozen layer. Under FSL and FSLUN conditions, RF erosion was 1.5–4.1 times and 14.5–24.3 times greater than SR erosion. The SRI erosion was not a simple linear superposition of multiple types of single-phase erosion; it had a significant nonlinear superposition amplification effect (SAE), with SAE of ~100% and ~300% under frozen and unfrozen soil conditions. Flow velocity (0.11 < R2 < 0.68), stream power (0.28 < R2 < 0.88), and energy consumption (0.21 < R2 < 0.87) exhibited significant (p < 0.05) linear relationships with SER in both FSL and FSLUN. The research results deepen our understanding of the composite erosion process during the spring thawing period in the black soil region of Northeast China and provide a basis for the prevention and control of soil erosion in the region.
In the field of geotechnical engineering, microbially induced calcium precipitation technology is feasible and sustainable alternative to improve the engineering characteristics of sand foundation ...under different geological conditions for a long time. However, it is unclear how the effects of different sand particle sizes on the engineering characteristics of bio-treated sand column. The method of intermittent injection in batches was used to develop a series of bio-treated sand columns. The results showed that the mechanical properties of the bio-treated column improved by increasing the particle size. Low concentration of bacterial suspension and cementation reagent leads to the increase of calcium carbonate and unconfined compressive strength. Additionally, the total injection times increased, thus risking time cost. Furthermore, the increase of sand particle size was beneficial to the uniformity of the spatial distribution of calcium carbonate in the bio-treated column. The coefficient of variation was reduced by up to 52.0%. Scanning electron microscopy results confirmed that the size and uniformity of calcite crystals on the surface of sand particles were related to the concentration of cementation solution.
A series of experimental tests on flow-induced motion (FIM) and energy conversion of two rigidly coupled triangular prisms (TRCTP) in tandem arrangement were conducted in a recirculating water ...channel with the constant oscillation mass mosc. The incoming flow velocity covered the range of 0.395 m/s ≤ U ≤ 1.438 m/s, corresponding to the Reynolds number range of 3.45 × 104 ≤ Re ≤ 1.25 × 105. The upstream and downstream triangular prisms with a width of 0.1 m and length of 0.9 m were connected by two rectangular endplates. Seven stiffness (1000 N/m ≤ K ≤ 2400 N/m), five load resistances (8 Ω ≤ RL ≤ 23 Ω), and five gap ratios (1 ≤ L/D ≤ 4) were selected as the parameters, and the FIM responses and energy conversion of TRCTP in tandem were analyzed and discussed to illustrate the effects. The experimental results indicate that the “sharp jump” phenomenon may appear at L/D = 2 and L/D = 3 significantly, with substantially increasing amplitude and decreasing oscillation frequency. The maximum amplitude ratio in the experiments is A*Max = 2.24, which appears after the “sharp jump” phenomenon at L/D = 3. In the present tests, the optimal active power Pharn = 21.04 W appears at L/D = 4 (Ur = 12.25, K = 2000 N/m, RL = 8 Ω), corresponding to the energy conversion efficiency ηharn = 4.67%.
The flow-induced rotational motion of tandem double cylinders has rarely been studied in existing papers. In order to further study the flow-induced rotation (FIR) of two mechanically tandem-coupled ...cylinders, an FIR device was designed in this paper, and the theoretical basis of this system was established. On this basis, a series of variable spacing ratio (L/D) tests were carried out in a recirculating water tunnel. The range of L/D was 4.0 ≤ L/D ≤ 9.0. The main experimental conclusions can be summarized as follows: (1) When L/D = 4.0 and 4.5, the rotational response was similar to vortex-induced vibration (VIV), which is different from typical VIV, in that the rotational oscillation would appear to be a re-growth region when velocitycontinued to increase after the oscillation entered the lower branch of VIV. Additionally, the oscillation was at a low level and the maximum arc length ratio (A*) was less than 0.55 in these two cases; (2) For L/D = 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0, the rotational responses all showed typical VIV. When the oscillation reached a high level, the maximum A* was more than 0.85 for each case; (3) When L/D = 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0, the rotational responses still presented typical VIV. The oscillation was at a medium level, and the maximum A* was between 0.53 and 0.72, but these three cases had a wider synchronization interval than the other cases, and the range showed an increasing trend with the growth of L/D.
Based on the monthly flow time series data of main hydrological stations in the middle Huaihe River from 1985 to 2015, the river stability of Zhengyangguan-Bengbu and Bengbu-Fushan reaches is ...scientifically judged by nonequilibrium thermodynamics. The results show that the river pattern is in a stable state, and there is no transformation possible in a short time; the evolution of riverbed tends to be stable, and the influence of riverbed boundary conditions is greater than that of incoming water and sediment conditions. Based on fully understanding the stability of the middle Huaihe River, to improve the intelligence of hydrological forecasting, the chaotic characteristics of monthly flow time series are identified, then the artificial neural network forecasting model is optimized by chaos theory and optimization algorithms. Our findings suggest that the nonequilibrium thermodynamic analysis methods of river stability can provide a new idea for the study of river characteristics, and the forecasting model combined with chaos theory and optimization methods provide an effective technical means to improve the hydrological forecasting accuracy of the middle Huaihe River.
In the pathogenesis of age-related macular degeneration, long non-coding RNAs have become important regulators. This study aimed to investigate the role of metastasis-associated lung adenocarcinoma ...transcript 1 (MALAT1) in the progression of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) and the underlying mechanisms. The in vivo and in vitro model of CNV was established using laser-induced mouse CNV model and human choroidal vascular endothelial cells (HCVECs) exposed to hypoxia respectively. We explore the role of MALAT1 in the pathogenesis of CNV by using the small interference RNA both in vivo and in vitro. MALAT1 expression was found to be upregulated in the retinal pigment epithelial-choroidal complexes. MALAT1 knockdown inhibited CNV development and leakage in vivo and decreased HCVECs proliferation, migration, and tube formation in vitro. MALAT1 performed the task as a miR-17-5p sponge to regulate the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA) and E26 transformation specific-1 (ETS1). This study provides a new perspective on the pathogenesis of CNV and suggests that the axis MALAT/miR-17-5p/VEGFA or ETS1 may be an effective therapeutic target for CNV.
