With China's socioeconomic development, especially in the educational sector, foreign advanced education experience might not be omnipotent for the innovation and entrepreneurship education (IEE) in ...Chinese colleges. In response to such a difficult context, firstly, this study was conducted to analyze the applied innovative talent cultivation status quo in Chinese colleges under innovation and entrepreneurship. Then, the authors dug into the current situation and the development of IEE-related courses in College S through Questionnaire Survey (QS) and unveiled the efficacy of entrepreneurship environment and conditions, IEE courses, teaching methods, and policy system on the college applied innovative talents cultivation. Finally, the experiment discovered that three problems are prominent when training applied innovative talents in College S: unreasonable talent training process, imperfect education system, and emphasizing theory over practice. The main reason is that the IEE courses are not systematically set up, and teachers are in severely short supply. According to the research outcomes, the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions were proposed for applied innovative talents cultivation in College S. It is concluded that the cultivation of applied innovative talents under innovation and entrepreneurship should be reformed from four aspects: educational concept, educational model, educational policy, and social support, laying a foundation for improving the quality of IEE in Chinese colleges and universities and strengthening the cultivation of applied innovative talents.

This study synthesized the Forsythia@carbon quantum dots (CQDs) in one-pot method with a natural anti-wood rot fungus activity. Chinese herbal medicine-Forsythia was used as a raw material, and the environmental-friendly fluorescent Forsythia@CQDs was prepared through microwave treatment. The antifungal test against two fungi (G. trabeum, C. versicolor) demonstrated that the Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) of Forsythia@CQDs was about 1% of the MIC of Forsythia suspense extract. The weight loss rate of wood samples treated by Forsythia@CQDs was as low as 1 (±0.5)%. The antifungal property was equivalent to that of the traditional chemical preservative Ammoniacal Copper Quats (ACQ). The leachability test results of wood preservatives showed that Forsythia@CQDs had a higher fixation rate in wood than Forsythia, and even exceeded ACQ preservatives. Also, its easily-detectable fluorescence effect could track the distribution of preservatives in the wood. This research indicates that Chinese herbal medicine@CQDs-derived environmentally-protective wood preservatives can be an improvement of standard chemical preservatives.

Polyaniline (PANI), poly(N-methylaniline) (PNMA) and poly(N-formylanilide) (PNFA) coatings were fabricated over mild steel via chronoamperometric strategy in oxalate electrolyte. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy (ATR-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) evidenced the polymerization of monomers. Anticorrosive effects of PANI, PNMA and PNFA coatings for steel substrate were evaluated during long-term immersion in 3.5% NaCl solution by potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and frequency modulation (EFM). Morphological variation for coated specimens before and after immersion in NaCl solution was also monitored by SEM and atomic force microscope (AFM). Differentiated protection capability were observed for three coatings following the sequence of PNFA > PNMA > PANI. Through electrochemical and interfacial analyses, electroactivity and physical barrier were ascertained as the critical factors, especially the former one, in the long-term protection capacity. Electroactivity was distinguished by the elevated apparent current density from non-destructive EFM measurements. Furthermore, electron-donation and -withdrawal effects of N-substituents played an essential role in coating electroactivity. In detail, N-substituents improved the anodic protection and physical barrier of PNMA and PNFA coatings. Particularly, formyl with electron-withdrawal effect reinforced the anodic protection and thus the superior the anticorrosion efficiency of PNFA for underlying steel.
Myocardial microRNAs (myo-miRs) are released into the circulation after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). How they impact remote organs is however largely unknown. Here we show that circulating ...myo-miRs are carried in exosomes and mediate functional crosstalk between the ischemic heart and the bone marrow (BM). In mice, we find that AMI is accompanied by an increase in circulating levels of myo-miRs, with miR-1, 208, and 499 predominantly in circulating exosomes and miR-133 in the non-exosomal component. Myo-miRs are imported selectively to peripheral organs and preferentially to the BM. Exosomes mediate the transfer of myo-miRs to BM mononuclear cells (MNCs), where myo-miRs downregulate CXCR4 expression. Injection of exosomes isolated from AMI mice into wild-type mice downregulates CXCR4 expression in BM-MNCs and increases the number of circulating progenitor cells. Thus, we propose that myo-miRs carried in circulating exosomes allow a systemic response to cardiac injury that may be leveraged for cardiac repair.
To improve the poor adhesion and the ensuing insufficient anticorrosion efficacy of electropolymerized polypyrrole (PPy) on copper surface, an inverted-electrode strategy was applied after the ...passivation procedure, for which the compact coating (PPy-I) was deposited on the substrate in a cathodic window. Morphological and physical characterizations revealed that PPy-I exerted satisfactory adhesion strength and suitable thickness and conductivity compared with the analogue prepared via the traditional protocol (PPy-T). Potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and frequency modulation were employed to ascertain the propitious protection of PPy-I for copper in artificial seawater (ASW). Due to the dominant electroactivity, the PPy-I-coated sample possessed higher apparent current density and lower charge transfer resistance than its PPy-T-protected counterpart, which maintained the passivation of the substrate. Surface analysis also supported the viability of PPy-I for copper in ASW for a well-protected surface with inferior water wettability. Molecular dynamics simulations evidenced that PPy-I with the higher density retained efficient anticorrosion capacity on copper at elevated temperatures. Therein, the derived time-dependent spatial diffusion trajectories of ions were locally confined with low diffusion coefficients. Highly twisted pore passages and anodic protection behavior arising respectively from the tight coating architecture and electroactivity contributed to the adequate corrosion resistance of PPy-I-coated copper.

Plant-derived preservatives exhibit excellent antifungal effects. However, their antifungal active ingredients can easily leach out. A properly designed functional response system can help realize the responsive release of preservatives and reduce leaching. Herein, the pH-responsive preservatives delivery system was designed and synthesized. The preservative (Forsythia) was encapsulated with hollow mesoporous organosilica nanoparticles (HMONs), and carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were employed as mesoporous plugging agents. Forsythia’s release was achieved by grafting pH-sensitive chemical bonds on the surface of the carrier. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and antifungal results showed that the pH-responsive switch was successfully broken. After 12 weeks of soil-jar incubation, the weight loss rate of treated wood was 2 % ± 0.5 %. The leaching of Forsythia–HMON–CQDs was lower than that of Forsythia under the same concentration. The design of the system reduced the leaching of Forsythia and extended the service life of wood. In addition, the system was also applicable to ammoniacal copper quat (ACQ). Forsythia–HMON–CQDs showed an outstanding fixation effect and antifungal ability, and its fluorescence can be used to track distribution in wood. This system can be extensively employed in protecting antifungal active ingredients and demonstrates an effective strategy for developing potential bio-based wood preservatives.
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most frequent malignancies in the world. Although increasing evidence supports the role of heterogeneous ribonucleoprotein particle A1 (HNRNP A1) in tumor ...progression, the function of HNRNP A1 in HCC remains unclear. Here, we focused on the role of HNRNP A1 in the development of HCC. In this study, we found HNRNP A1 participates in many aspects of HCC, such as progression and prognosis. Our results showed that HNRNP A1 is upregulated in human HCC tissues and cell lines. High expression of HNRNP A1 can promote the proliferation, migration, and invasion in HCC cells and accelerate tumor progression in mice. Moreover, we found that HNRNP A1 prevents the senescence process of HCC cells. Knocking down of HNRNP A1 promotes the expression of P16INK4, which arrests the cell cycle and then induces the senescence phenotype in HCC cells. Furthermore, we found that HNRNP A1 regulated necroptosis and mitochondrial dynamics. In summary, our study indicates that HNRNP A1 promotes the development of HCC, which suggests a potential therapeutic target for HCC.
Maternal exposure to dexamethasone can cause developmental toxicity of long bones in offspring. However, the effect of dexamethasone on the trans-differentiation of growth plate chondrocytes into ...osteoblasts and its role in bone dysplasia of fetuses caused by prenatal dexamethasone exposure (PDE) remains unclear. In this study, pregnant mice were treated with different doses, stages, and courses of dexamethasone according to clinical practice to reveal the phenomenon. Further, growth plate chondrocytes were treated with dexamethasone
to clarify the phenomenon and mechanism. The results showed that PDE caused dysplasia of fetal long bones in female and male mice, accompanied by the delayed formation of the primary ossification center and the widening hypertrophic zone of growth plate cartilage. Meanwhile, PDE increased the number of hypertrophic chondrocytes at growth plate cartilage and decreased the number of osteoblasts at the primary ossification center. Moreover, PDE significantly decreased the expression of osteogenic transcription factor Runx2 but increased the expression of hypertrophic chondrocytes marker Col10. These above phenomena were more significant in the high dose, early stage, and double courses of dexamethasone exposure groups, and the male fetal mice showed more obvious than the female fetal mice.
, dexamethasone significantly inhibited the trans-differentiation of growth plate chondrocytes into osteoblasts, accompanied by a decrease in Runx2 expression and an increase in Col10 expression. In conclusion, this study revealed the phenomenon and mechanism of fetal bone dysplasia caused by PDE from the new perspective of trans-differentiation disorder of growth plate chondrocytes to osteoblasts.
Interleukin (IL)‐10 is an essential anti‐inflammatory cytokine that plays important roles as a negative regulator of immune responses to microbial antigens. c‐Maf has been suggested as an essential ...transcriptional factor for IL‐10 production in CD4+ T cells and macrophages. However, it remains unclear whether c‐Maf participates in IL‐10 expression in B cells. In this study, we investigated the role of c‐Maf in the transcriptional regulation of IL‐10 in regulatory B cells, as well as the underlying molecular mechanism. We found that c‐Maf was constitutively expressed in resting B cells. c‐Maf expression was upregulated in the presence of LPS and dose‐dependently enhanced IL‐10 production following binding to the IL‐10 promoter. Moreover, a lower expression of c‐Maf and decreased production of regulatory B (Breg) cells were detected in mice with collagen‐induced arthritis (CIA), which may contribute to the pathological changes. Taken together, these data demonstrate that c‐Maf is an indispensable yet constitutive transcription factor for IL‐10 gene expression in LPS‐activated B cells.
