The paper presents some aspects regarding the cut and fill volumes determination and it focuses on the development of a computational algorithm with applicability in the studied problem. The current ...used methodology for embankment works calculation presents some disadvantages regarding the accuracy of determination and the related time management. In this order, the paper identifies the key factors which represent the input data in the computational algorithm and proposes a mathematical resolution for the studied problem.
The paper describes the vegetation communities dominated by Cornus mas identified in the south-eastern Transiylvania. For ten relevees within the studied area, floristic composition and site ...conditions are presented. The physiognomy and the mixture of xerophilous and mesophilous species are characteristic. Using the cluster analysis method the author outlined the floristic similarity with some woody vegetation units on limestone gorges described from Romania. Tilio-Fraxinetum is the most suitable syntaxon.
We studied the leaf morphology of pedunculate oak (Quercus robur L.) in seven natural stands. Fourteen leaf descriptors were used. For most of the morphological traits the differences between stands ...were nonsignificant. For petiole ratio, petiole length and lobe depth ratio were significant and for basal shape were highly significant. By using a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) no groups were distinguished. The values of leaf descriptors are quite similar to those reported in Western Europe.

This paper proposes a new method based on FCD (Forest Cover Density) model, which maps the vegetation taking into consideration the canopy density. The critical analysis of well-known methods from ...Romanian literature, concluded that the age and stand consistency are the main factors in hydrological mapping of the vegetation. In the new technique we integrated several vegetation indexes, which made possible a hydrological mapping based entirely on remote sensing products. We have applied the new method in Upper Tarlung Watershed, and the results obtained revealed a strong correlation with the results offered by classical methods.
