Vertically stacked thorn-like nanostructured NiCo2S4 arrays are designed to in-situ grow on the electrochemical oxidized graphite paper by a two-step hydrothermal method where graphite papers act as ...heterogeneous nuclear sites to rationally construct the unique features of NiCo2S4. Bimetal synergistic effect and the presence of sulfur atoms can improve the ionic and electron conductivity of NiCo2S4. The unique structure of NiCo2S4 fabricated in such way can allow more active sites exposed to reversible redox reactions, as well as provide relatively short ions/electrons transport pathways within the broken crystal structure and rich porous structure. As such, graphite paper supported NiCo2S4 as a self-supported electrode (NiCo2S4@EGP) shows an extraordinarily high rate capability with the specific capacitance of 1276 F g−1 at 1 A g−1, and even 1218 F g−1 at 20 A g−1, as well as the excellent cycle stability with capacitance retention of 86 % after 5000 cycles. When assembling into a flexible asymmetric all-solid-state supercapacitor device, this device reaches a high-power density of 55.3 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 747.6 W kg−1, together with a superior high cycle stability (retained 95 % in 5000 cycles). These results obviously open interesting perspectives of using NiCo2S4@EGP as self-supported electrodes to become an advanced flexible power device.

The influence of coverslip width and the physical arrangement of growth rings were studied relative to laterally glued Pinus taeda wood panels (EGP) used in the manufacture of door jambs, according ...to the requirements of ABNT-NBR 15.930 (2011). The goal was to determine the combination providing the best physical performance of the product. The experiments used the complete factorial design for two factors and four levels, i.e., 32, 56, 75, and 112 mm width coverslips, and rings arrangement of radial, tangential, cross coverslips, and ones with finger joints. A total of 48 EGP door jamb specimens (3 for each combination) measuring 2120 x 220 x 32 mm, with moisture content between 8% and 12% and apparent density between 400 and 600 kg.m-3 were used. Statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to investigate the influence of factors and their interactions on the following responses: visual aspect, moisture, density and dimensional (width and thickness) variations. It was found that both factors and their interactions influenced the level of significance of 1% on shape deviations. The best results were for panels produced with 32 and 56 mm coverslips, with cross or radial arrangement.

In order to gain access to the booster and main explosive charges of PLAB-250-120 aerial depth bombs, i.e. the TNT charge and the TGAF-5M explosive composition of TNT, hexogen (RDX), aluminum powder ...and phlegmatizing agent respectively, Explosively Generated Plasma (EGP) devices were used to perforate their steel bodies. EGP devices were made in two versions. The first used a cylindrical TNT charge, while the second used a cylindrical charge shaped from SEMTEX PW4 plastic explosive. The explosive charges were supported by waveguides with conical cavities tapering towards the bomb. The structural components of the EGP devices, i.e. the bodies housing the explosive charges and the waveguides, were made of plastic by 3D printing. The effects of the EGP on the bomb were studied depending on the explosive material used, its mass and the distance of the EGP device waveguide from the side surface of the bomb. Simultaneous firing of an array of two EGP devices inserted with SEMTEX PW4 explosive, contacted their waveguides with the bomb, resulted in its detonation, while simultaneous firing of the analogous array of the same type two EGP devices inserted with SEMTEX PW4 explosive, with their waveguides at a distance of 10 mm from the bomb, resulted in perforation of two circular through-holes in the bomb body. Firing single EGP device inserted with TNT, being in contact through its waveguide with the body of the bomb, resulted in local rupture of the bomb body with crushing the bomb explosive charges, so allowing easy access to bomb explosive charges and sampling them.
To model the engineering performance of components made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), the 3D elasto‐viscoplastic Eindhoven glassy polymer (EGP) model is extended to describe the rate‐dependent ...behavior of PVDF. Careful analysis of the intrinsic behavior of PVDF revealed that the postyield compressive response shows a strain rate‐dependence that evolves with increasing deformation. The extension of the constitutive model captures the deformation‐dependent evolution of the activation volume and the rate‐factor, which describes the driving stress. Given the significant temperature‐dependent behavior, the model has been characterized for different temperatures (23, 55 and 75 °C). The accuracy of the model has been validated by means of tension and creep experiments at these temperatures. The constitutive model is implemented in finite element simulations and the results are compared with the experiments. It is shown that the proposed model allows for an accurate prediction of the short‐ and long‐term rate‐dependent behavior of PVDF.
Capitalizing on the newly available and consistent coding of detailed occupations for the General Social Surveys (GSS), this article examines the link between class origins and public support for ...redistribution in the United States from 1977 through 2018. The findings reveal significant net associations between class origins and preferences for redistribution. Individuals with farming-class or working-class origins are more supportive of government action to reduce inequality than individuals with salariat-class origins. These class-origin differences are associated with individuals’ current socioeconomic characteristics but are not fully accounted for by these factors. In addition, individuals in more privileged class positions have increased their support for redistribution over time. Attitudes toward federal income taxes are also analyzed as an additional measure of redistribution preferences. Overall, the findings suggest a continuing role of class origin in determining support for redistribution.
The connection between social class and political preferences is among the most well established in the social sciences. This association is typically taken as prima facie evidence of economic ...self‐interest: Classes hold different attitudes, values, and party preferences because they have different economic interests. However, this assumption has rarely been tested empirically. In this article, we use survey data from 18 West European countries to examine why classes differ on a central aspect of political preferences, namely their views on the desirability of income inequality. We find that only a moderate proportion of differences between employee classes in support for redistribution can be accounted for by contemporary differences in resources and risks; differences in economic interests to some degree account for the anti‐redistributive preferences of the professional middle classes compared with the working class. However, the preferences of the self‐employed have a different explanation; autonomy is a better explanation of the right‐wing preferences of the self‐employed compared with the working class.
The article analyzes the cooperation of one of the leading pan–European political organizations – the European Green Party (EPP) – with its partners in the countries participating in the Eastern ...Partnership program (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine). Since 1994, the European Greens have established partnerships with the environmental parties of these countries and even accepted them into their ranks. The profiles of these organizations and their leaders, the results of participation in national parliamentary, presidential and local elections were studied. The interaction of these parties with other political forces of their countries on the formation of pre-election and ruling coalitions is considered. The main provisions of their program documents, which reflect the pro–European choice, as well as the resolutions of the EPZ Council concerning the situation in the countries participating in the Eastern Partnership program, are given. It is shown that the EPZ actively supported this program itself and its partners, regardless of their electoral results. It is noted that in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, local green parties initially achieved good results in elections, including in the national parliament, but in recent years they have fallen by the wayside of the party-political system of their countries due to a number of objective and subjective circumstances. First of all, this was due to the fact that the political turbulence characteristic of these states made environmental issues irrelevant to public consciousness. Nevertheless, the European greens are confident that as the situation stabilizes, the issues of environmental protection and sustainable development will return to the political agenda and the green parties will once again become in demand.
The special-purpose English course should combine the specific subject content with the language teaching objective, and the teaching activities should focus on solving the language problems ...encountered by students, and cultivate the English ability related to the major as the teaching focus. This shows that "a post-college English teaching era emphasizing individuality and diversity has arrived, and the only way for college English teaching to meet international standards is to gradually shift from basic English to ESP teaching". It can be seen that ESP teaching has become a trend in colleges and universities. How to transform EGP teachers into ESP teachers and other problems remain to be solved in the reform of College English teaching in China.
