The translator as a negotiator must ensure that all information contained in the source language text is conveyed to the target language reader. Because translation can be a way to overcome ...intercultural gaps. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method to find the formulation of the translation of Japanese cultural terms that have been negotiated in Indonesian translation. The material objects of this research were the Japanese novel 'Tenki No Ko' and its Indonesian translation 'Weathering With You’. The frameworks for this study were Newmark's cultural terms categorizations, Eco's idea of negotiation, and Baker's strategies for culture-specific items. This study revealed that the negotiation of Japanese cultural identity can be identified and formulated through the translation strategy used by the translator. The strategies were using general words, omissions, paraphrasing with related words, using neutral words, and using unrelated words.

Omotenashi, often referred to as Japanese hospitality, is a service to customers based on Japanese spirit and culture. Omotenashi is evident in the services provided by a ryokan, which is a ...traditional Japanese inn. This paper seeks to describe the application of omotenashi in ryokan management, how omotenashi control is implemented, and what the implementations are. The research was conducted by observing the involvement of the Hyoe Koyokaku ryokan, an old ryokan located in the tourist area of Arima Onsen. From the results of observations and analysis, it was found that ryokan employees control omotenashi as a vision of service to customers through training, instruction, and improvement based on feedback. The implementation of ometenashi is manifested in personalization, host-guest relationships, hospitableness, and lots of little surprises

Informal verbal interaction is the core matrix for human social life. A mechanism for coordinating this basic mode of interaction is a system of turn-taking that regulates who is to speak and when. ...Yet relatively little is known about how this system varies across cultures. The anthropological literature reports significant cultural differences in the timing of turn-taking in ordinary conversation. We test these claims and show that in fact there are striking universals in the underlying pattern of response latency in conversation. Using a worldwide sample of 10 languages drawn from traditional indigenous communities to major world languages, we show that all of the languages tested provide clear evidence for a general avoidance of overlapping talk and a minimization of silence between conversational turns. In addition, all of the languages show the same factors explaining within ¯ language variation in speed of response. We do, however, find differences across the languages in the average gap between turns, within a range of 250 ms from the cross-language mean. We believe that a natural sensitivity to these tempo differences leads to a subjective perception of dramatic or even fundamental differences as offered in ethnographic reports of conversational style. Our empirical evidence suggests robust human universals in this domain, where local variations are quantitative only, pointing to a single shared infrastructure for language use with likely ethological foundations.
The research examined the life’s perspective of the author that was reflected in wabi sabi in the novel ‘Joseito’ by Dazai Osamu. The life of the Joseito character described by Dazai Osamu in the ...Joseito novel had individual values (honne), and Joseito desired to equate it with collective values (tatemae). However, Joseito could not unite the two contradictory values and accepted the contradiction. The method used was descriptive qualitative, with the sociology of literature approach and focused on the sociology of the author using the concept of wabi sabi. Data on wabi sabi were collected from reading Joseito’s novels. The research results find that Dazai Osamu sincerely accepts the contradictions in Japanese society because Dazai can place himself where he is. Dazai is willing to accept contradictions in Japanese society by understanding the meaning of wabi sabi. He learns to appreciate, accept what it is, and be grateful for the contradictions in society because these contradictions can establish harmony in a beautifully ordered life through wabi sabi.
The purpose of the article is to create a scientific theory of lean production of goods and services (the theory of thrift), from the perspective of Japanese culture which is applicable in higher ...education and agriculture. Currently, a new technological way is being formed. One of the key concepts of this technological way will be the scientific theory of lean manufacturing, which can be created based on the analysis of the practice of lean manufacturing of the Toyota automobile company. The analysis of the directions of crisis management indicates the growing relevance of the introduction of lean manufacturing of goods and services in all new areas of activity, in particular in higher education and agriculture as a part of Japanese culture. However, fragmentary implementation of lean manufacturing ideas can be inefficient. This necessitates the development of the concept and content of the general theory of lean production of goods and services in higher education and agriculture. The article describes the functions, roles, and structural elements of the general theory of lean production of goods and services, a conceptual approach to the introduction of lean production of goods and services in higher education and agriculture as a part of Japanese culture is being formed.
