Opisani so dosežki jezuitov iz Avstrijske in Češke province, ki so objavljali knjige o kemiji. Posebej so izpostavljene njihove povezave z območjem današnje Slovenije. Nakazane so smernice s katerimi ...so omogočili uren prodor idej o strukturi snovi jezuita Ruđerja Boškovića. Nepojmljivo hitro uveljavljanje Boškovićevih pristašev v Habsburški monarhiji je primerjano s podobno hitro uveljavitvijo kinetičnih teorij atomov Slovenca Jožefa Stefana in z napol Slovenko poročenega Ludwiga Boltzmanna v istih zemljepisnih območjih.
How can we explain the large number of Good Friday processions that characterised Catholic Europe from the 16th to the 18th century? Jaša Drnovšek presents these early modern performances as ...eminently political phenomena that could only exist against the background of the Counter-Reformation and Catholic renewal. In doing so, he takes up Joachim Küpper's theory of cultural production, according to which culture can be seen as a virtual network. In his comparative cultural-historical study, Drnovšek takes an in-depth look at the history of the Capuchin and Jesuit orders, both of which contributed significantly to the rise of Good Friday processions. The Škofjeloški pasijon, the oldest Slovenian drama, whose revived performance tradition has been under UNESCO protection since 2016, plays here a special role.
This volume ('Johann Ludwig Schönleben (1618–1681): A description of his life and work') features the first fundamental research on Johann Ludwig Schönleben (1618–1681), an important Carniolan ...historian, preacher, theologian, and polymath, who despite his greatness and importance for the Slovenian and wider European environment has not yet been comprehensively studied. It presents his life in detail, explaining many aspects of his life that have been unknown or poorly known up to now. The biographical part is followed by an overview of Schönleben’s entire oeuvre, which includes all of his printed and manuscript writings discovered so far, either preserved or unpreserved. The last two chapters focus on Schönleben’s historiographic and rhetorical or preaching works, placing his most important printed works in these two areas at the forefront, but also taking into account his extensive manuscript material. This volume provides an evaluation of Schönleben as a historian and preacher, and draws attention to the important transitional role he played in these two areas (influencing the works of his successors Johann Weikhard von Valvasor, Johann Gregor Thalnitscher, Tobia Lionelli, and Jernej Basar).
