The paper's subject is fifteen copper alloy lamps of various types and sizes from the Roman Collection of the Archaeological Museum of Istria, mostly collected in the first half of the 20th century ...in Istria and on the island of Cres. The lamps were classified according to shape into six basic types and compared with other finds to gain insight into the chronological framework, workshop centers, and distribution routes. Figural depictions on lamps have been interpreted as mythological and cult significance. The available data on the circumstances of the findings were analyzed and compared with the other data, from which assumptions were made about the possible time and causes of the storage of copper alloy lamps in hoards. The possible value of the copper alloy lamps is estimated according to their weight.
U ovoj se studiji donosi nepoznati dokument o podizanju mramornog tabernakula u kapeli Tijela Kristova u nekadašnjoj osorskoj katedrali koji je stilskom analizom bio uvršten u opus venecijanskog ...kipara Alvisea Tagliapietre (Venecija, 1670. – 1747.). Arhivski izvor otkriva da je dogovor bio sklopljen u Veneciji 20. rujna 1708. godine s Tagliapietrom čija se radionica nalazila u župi San Moisè. Usto, objavljuje se i ugovor s venecijanskim altaristom Zuanneom Trognonom koji je sastavljen u Cresu 20. srpnja 1710. godine. Majstor je trebao za kapelu isklesati novi mramorni oltar kako bi se na njega postavio Tagliapietrin tabernakul. Tom prilikom su u opus venecijanskog kipara Tagliapietre uvrštene mramorna bista Venere iz palače Giusti u Veroni, kip Bezgrešno Začete iz nekadašnjeg oratorija vile D’Arco u Corno Alto nedaleko Verone, kao i skulpture svetog Nikole biskupa i svetog Jurja na glavnom oltaru župne crkve u Colloredo di Prato kod Udina. Naposljetku, s Alviseom se povezuju i dva mramorna anđela s glavnog oltara u župnoj crkvi u Pincari te Gospa od Ružarija iz oratorija vile Condulmer u mjestu Zerman u okolici Trevisa.
O samostanu Sv. Marije od Anđela u Osoru, ukinutom 1743. godine i razrušenom sredinom 19. stoljeća, gotovo da nije pisano. Rijetki navodi u literaturi prenose podatke iz dvaju kompendija crkvenih ...povijesti iz 18. stoljeća, Kamaldoljanskih anala i Svetog Ilirika, koji govore o osnutku ženske redovničke zajednice u 11. stoljeću i njezinu kontinuitetu do ukidanja. Tako rani postanak nije vjerojatan, a usporednim čitanjem ranijih pisanih izvora moguće je rasvijetliti okolnosti osnivanja samostana u 16. stoljeću, ali i etape njegova daljnjeg života. U radu se također razmatraju unutrašnje uređenje nekadašnje samostanske crkve, njezini izgubljeni oltari s drvenim skulpturama i kasniji, mramorni inventar, dijelom sačuvan ponovnom upotrebom. Na lokalitetu u zapadnom dijelu grada na kojem je samostan podignut sredinom 16. stoljeća, međutim, razlikuje se nekoliko ranijih faza koje – iako nisu povezane sa samostanom – zavređuju posebnu obradu. U svojstvu prolegomene za buduća arheološka istraživanja, u radu se upozorava na zid s lezenama (dio pročelja crkve iz 16. stoljeća, a danas ogradni zid dvorišta), u kojem se prepoznaju ostatci neke ranije crkve nepoznatog titulara.

This study aims to investigate the relationship among different types of internet sources for health, medical check-up beliefs and the timeliness of annual medical check-ups among African Americans, accounting for both health TV usage and health service use.
Hierarchical linear regression analysis was conducted on data from 1734 African Americans surveyed in the 2013 Consumer Health Multimedia Audience Research Systems national pharmaceutical study of 19,420 U.S. adults.
The results indicate a positive association between seeking health information on medical websites (β = 0.052, p = 0.04) and consumer-driven health sites (β = 0.066, p < 0.01), and the timeliness of check-ups among African Americans, an association not found in relation to mainstream or news-related sites. Health TV program use was not associated with timeliness of medical check-ups. Medical check-up belief is positively associated with seeking health info on consumer-driven health sites (β = 0.072, p < 0.01) but not on medical sites or on TV.
Seeking information on health-specific websites was associated with more timely check-ups in African Americans and more positive preventative medical care belief, even after controlling for traditional barriers, such as poor provider relationship.
Health specific websites may provide an avenue for intervention to improve preventative care use in African Americans.

) concentrations in filtered water samples surpassing US EPA Water Quality Criteria (

). Terrestrial ecotoxicity tests were in accordance with metal quantifications and identified the most polluted soil as the most toxic. Avoidance and reproduction tests with earthworms showed the highest sensitivity to metal contamination. Aquatic bioassays performed in aqueous extracts from soils confirmed the results from terrestrial tests and also detected toxic effects caused by the mine drainage waters. Algal growth inhibition was the most sensitive aquatic endpoint. In view of the results, the application of a containment or remediative procedure in the area is encouraged.
Na temelju popisa dobara Osorske biskupije i izvještaja poslijetridentskih vizitacija, u tekstu se raspravlja o katedrali Sv. Nikole u Osoru, istaknutom spomeniku renesansnog graditeljstva čija ...unutrašnjost nije bila predmetom cjelovitog istraživanja. U radu se stoga iznose neobjavljeni podatci o stupnju opremljenosti crkve od posvećenja 1498. godine do početka 17. stoljeća te se rekonstruira položaj oltara u lađama prostrane trobrodne bazilike. Podatci o uređenju katedrale otkrivaju pojačani intenzitet opremanja tijekom prvih desetljeća 16. stoljeća, no taj će početni zanos slabjeti usporedno sa sve većim odumiranjem grada. U drugoj polovici stoljeća, međutim, dolazi do prenošenja tijela lokalnog patrona, sv. Gaudencija, iz njemu posvećene crkve na središnji oltar katedrale, čime je potvrđen primat katedrale Sv. Nikole u Osorskoj biskupiji, zbog povijesnih i društvenih okolnosti de facto predan kolegijalnoj crkvi u Cresu. Raspravlja se, zaključno, o krstionici, sakristiji i stanju crkvene unutrašnjosti tijekom 16. stoljeća, te se upućuje na nekoliko faza kasnijih obnova kojima treba posvetiti pozornost u budućim istraživanjima.
Dijelovi oltarne ograde iz crkve nepoznatog titulara u Valbandonu kraj Pule čine jednu od ikonografski i izvedbeno najzanimljivijih cjelina unutar korpusa istarske predromaničke skulpture. Osobito je ...zanimljiv plutej koji se nalazio s lijeve strane oltarne ograde, o čijoj kompoziciji postoje oprečna mišljenja istraživača. Izravne analogije tomu pluteju dosad nisu pronađene, a ni preostali dijelovi oltarne ograde nisu dovedeni u vezu s ulomcima kamenog namještaja s drugih lokaliteta, zbog čega se pretpostavljalo da je riječ o jedinoj realizaciji ne baš vještog lokalnog klesara. U ovom su radu identificirani specifični izvedbeni detalji po kojima je prepoznat rukopis valbandonskog majstora, a usporedbom tih reljefa s dijelovima liturgijske skulpture iz nekolicine drugih crkava utvrđena je njegova pripadnost određenom radioničkom krugu. Analiza motiva korištenih na tim lokalitetima uputila je na njihovu povezanost s majstorima koji su u kasnom 8. i početkom 9. stoljeća djelovali duž čitave istočne obale Jadrana. U ovom ćemo radu prije iznesenim tezama pridružiti i neka nova zapažanja, s ciljem boljeg poznavanja ne samo valbandonske skupine ulomaka već i upotpunjavanja ukupne slike obrtničko-klesarske produkcije poluotoka, ali i šireg istočnojadranskog prostora u razdoblju predromanike.
The urban transformation of Osor during the second half of the fifteenth century has so far been interpreted as a consequence of the town’s contraction due to wars, loss of importance and population ...decrease. The article presents a detailed analysis of the main town square and demonstrates that the careful remodelling of the town centre took place in the fifteenth century, prior to the reduction of the urban area caused by the building of the new fortifications in the sixteenth century. The article offers an assessment of the main square and the Episcopal Palace while also introducing into the debate an analysis of the spatial organisation of the town’s residential buildings. It considers several individual features which were typical of Osor during the second half of the fifteenth and in the sixteenth century, that is, the period following the establishment of a bimunicipal county when the local nobility was more intermingled and the town became dominated by aristocratic residences resembling country houses.
