During the summer period, fire hazards represent an especially real threat not only for vegetation and animals, but also for material resources and human lives. In the Republic of Croatia, the most ...affected areas are those in the coastal region, which are characterised by a very dry environment and strong winds that are conducive to the rapid spread of wildfire. Although the prevention of wildfire is an utmost imperative, many countries are still missing a good and reliable fire management system for both fire monitoring and prevention and post-disaster management. The aim of this paper is to show the utilisation of open source GIS, web-based technologies, and open data in the case of natural disasters, and to define the concept of advanced national system of compensation determination. Such a system could be utilised to identify land parcels for which compensations for damage and losses after fire devastation have to be determined and could be used by compensation agencies, insurance companies, or state administration. The island of Hvar, which has suffered from fire hazards, was used as a case study for a quick and relevant calculation of the compensation based on land administration data. Sentinel satellite images and official digital orthophoto maps (DOMs) of the affected area before and after the fire devastation were obtained and analysed together with the data on cadastral parcels and land owners. Research was conducted by using both sets of imagery data, showing that Sentinel satellite images are more than adequate for fulfilling the task of the determination of hazard compensation.

It is not a static process and needs dynamic monitoring and adjustment for establishing a valid approach.
The Land Administration Domain Model (LADM) is one of the first ISO spatial domain standards, and has been proven one of the best candidates for unambiguously representing 3D Rights, Restrictions and ...Responsibilities. Consequently, multiple LADM-based country profile implementations have been developed since the approval of LADM as an ISO standard; however, there is still a gap for technical implementations. This paper summarizes LADM implementation approaches distilled from relevant publications available to date. Models based on land administration standards do focus on the legal aspects of urban structures; however, the juridical boundaries in 3D are sometimes (partly) bound by the corresponding physical objects, leading to ambiguous situations. To that end, more integrated approaches are being developed at a conceptual level, and it is evident that the evaluation and validation of 3D legal and physical models—both separately and together in the form of an integrated model—is vital. This paper briefly presents the different approaches to legal and physical integration that have been developed in the last decade, while the need for more explicit relationships between legal and physical notions is highlighted. In this regard, recent experience gained from implementing INTERLIS, the Swiss standard that enables land information system communications, in LADM-based country profiles, suggests the possibility of an integrated LADM/INTERLIS approach. Considering semantic interoperability within integrated models, the need for more formal semantics is underlined by introducing formalization of code lists and explicit definition of constraints. Last but not least, the first results of case studies based on the generic LADM/INTERLIS approach are presented.

The cadastral lineage refers to the parent-child bonds that occur amongst cadastral objects. In Spain, the official Dirección General del Catastro keeps a record of all the parcels as well as the ...changes affecting them along the time. Understanding the history of the plots requires studying thousands of cadastral records. However, no visualization tool for this purpose has been proposed yet. This paper explores some visualization techniques applied to the cadastral lineage of a study area. After assessing the results it was found that treemaps and network diagrams are useful to ease the interpretation of the cadastral lineage, although they need to complement each other, as used by temselves they may hide some important lineage relationships between objects.

This paper presents the application of ontologies in the field of real estate
cadastre. Ontologies can be seen as a form of metadata that provide a higher
level of interoperability and integration ...within the Spatial Data
Infrastructure, not only on the syntax level but on the semantic level as
well. The application of ontologies in this domain is based on domain
ontology for cadastre developed on top of the Land Administration Domain
Model defined in ISO 19152 standard. The use of ontologies is shown on the
several examples including data integration of the Serbian national cadastre
and the INSPIRE cadastral parcels, and integration of OGC based geospatial
services and other Web services in cadastral systems. The introduction of
semantics in the cadastral systems provide many opportunities in terms of
cadastral data and services integration on national and international level,
and also in connecting with many other organizations that are users of such
systems. These opportunities are reflected in the fact that terms are given
well-defined explicit meaning and when based on formal ontology automatic
reasoning can be used to infer the new knowledge.

New South Wales is embarking on a major reform program named Cadastre NSW. This reform aims to move to a single source of truth for the digital representation of cadastre. The current lack of a ...single source cadastre has hindered users from government and industry due to duplication of effort and misalignment between databases from different sources. For this reform to be successful, there are some challenges that need to be addressed. “Cadastre 2034 – Powering Land & Real Property” (2015) published by the Intergovernmental Committee on Surveying and Mapping (ICSM) identifies that current cadastres do not represent real property in three dimensions. In future vertical living lifestyles will create complex property scenarios that the Digital Cadastral Database (DCDB) will need to contend with. While the NSW DCDB currently holds over 3 million lots and 5 million features, one of its limitations is that it does not indicate land ownership above or below the ground surface. NSW Spatial Services is currently capturing survey plans into LandXML format. To prepare for the future, research is being undertaken to also capture multi-level Strata Plans through a modified recipe. During this research, multiple Strata Plans representing a range of ages and development types have been investigated and converted to LandXML. Since it is difficult to visualise the plans in a two dimensional format, quality control purposes require a method to display these plans in three dimensions. Overall investigations have provided Spatial Services with enough information to confirm that the capture and display of Strata Plans in the LandXML format is possible.
