Bu çalışma Batıda gelişen muhafazakâr teoriden Türk muhafazakârlığına muhafazakâr ideolojinin genel özelliklerini saptamaya ve bunu Türk muhafazakârlığının çeşitli aşamaları ve çağdaş ...muhafazakârlığın durumu açısından ele almayı amaçlıyor. Buna göre, muhafazakârlığın Batıdaki ve Türkiye'deki karşılıkları arasında politik coğrafyalar arası farklılıklar olsa bile muhafazakâr ideolojinin çekirdek ilkeleri açısından ele alınırsa bir süreklilikten bahsetmemiz de mümkün görünmektedir. Bu varsayımdan hareketle, çalışma ilk bölümünde muhafazakârlığı “pratik bir ideoloji” olarak konumlandırdıktan sonra ideolojinin temel ilkelerini belirliyor. İkinci ana bölümde ise Türk muhafazakârlığının yaklaşık 100 yıllık serüveninde birbirinden farklı aşamalar ve üslupları teşhis ediyor. Son olarak içinde bulunduğumuz muhafazakârlık aşamasının genel özelliklerini çözümlüyor.
In the imminent paper, the author elaborates on the primary theoretical modalities of conservative ideology. Such variants arise from the conservative ideology where diversity, specificities, and ...needs are treated as a fundamental principle of their activity. The necessity to present the basic modalities of conservative philosophy lies in the fact that modern right-centrist parties are faced with the dilemma of ideological repositioning and expedient concretization of the priorities in their own political action. In this respect, the author concentrates on four essential concepts that shape the conservative action in modern discourse. Paternalistic Conservatism, Neoliberal Conservatism, Neoconservatism, and Christian Democracy create a framework of conservative worldview through the theoretical prism and also withdraw substantial axiological and praxeological differentiations on relevant issues such as freedom of the market, media, agriculture, financial sector, solidarity, religion, penal policy, taxes, etc.

We examine whether individual differences in needs for security and certainty predict conservative (vs. liberal) position on both cultural and economic political issues and whether these effects are ...conditional on nation-level characteristics and individual-level political engagement. Analyses with cross-national data from 51 nations reveal that valuing conformity, security, and tradition over self-direction and stimulation (a) predicts ideological self-placement on the political right, but only among people high in political engagement and within relatively developed nations, ideologically constrained nations, and non-Eastern European nations, (b) reliably predicts right-wing cultural attitudes and does so more strongly within developed and ideologically constrained nations, and (c) on average predicts left-wing economic attitudes but does so more weakly among people high in political engagement, within ideologically constrained nations, and within non-Eastern European nations. These findings challenge the prevailing view that needs for security and certainty organically yield a broad right-wing ideology and that exposure to political discourse better equips people to select the broad ideology that is most need satisfying. Rather, these findings suggest that needs for security and certainty generally yield culturally conservative but economically left-wing preferences and that exposure to political discourse generally weakens the latter relation. We consider implications for the interactive influence of personality characteristics and social context on political attitudes and discuss the importance of assessing multiple attitude domains, assessing political engagement, and considering national characteristics when studying the psychological origins of political attitudes.

This ...book explores the idea that revolutionaries do not necessarily need to come from the left, nor use arms in order to overturn liberal democracy. In the post-World War Two era, the extremists of the revolutionary right took three different paths: 1) parliamentary; 2) extra-parliamentary; and 3) metapolitical. The New Right (nouvelle droite - ND in France) took the metapolitical path, but that did not mean it abandoned its revolutionary desire to smash liberal democracy throughout Europe.
The book examines four interpretations of the New Right. These interpretations include the following: 1) The New Right as a fascist or quasi-fascist movement; 2) The New Right as a challenge to the traditional right-left dichotomy, which has structured European political debates for more than 200 years; 3) The New Right as an alternative modernist movement, which rejects liberal and socialist narratives of modernity; accepts the technical but not political or cultural effects of modernity; and longs for a pan-European political framework abolishing liberal multiculturalism and privileging ethnic dominance of so-called original Europeans; and 4) The New Right as a variant of political religion and conversionary processes. The book concludes by analysing the positions, cultural and political impact, and relationship to democracy of the New Right.

This article deals with the ideas of Edmund Burke (1729-1797): a famous Anglo-Irish author, statesman, and the founder of the British conservative tradition. Burke's concept of liberal conservatism ...was more than a purely theoretical work based on a creative amalgam of his political heritage and knowledge of the new. It was based on a synthesis of political philosophy and political practice and was created as a response to one of the most fundamental political challenges of his time: reform or revolution. It also amounted to a gradual strategy for the political and social modernization of England and intended helping to avoid catastrophic revolutionary shocks, and the stagnation of the existing regime. Burke was a defender of a path of social harmony and evolutionary development that provided more space for new ways of living and preserved everything that accorded with a strict social order and was historically viable. Burke is considered to be the most important figure of past, present and future European conservatism. Even though the political ideology of conservatism is changing, it has remained true to tradition for two hundred years. Against this backdrop, Burke's ideas are an unchanging substrate that determines the philosophical and political direction of the conservative ideology.
