This work is devoted to the analysis of the digital tools that a modern teacher should possess to implement the educational process using distance learning technologies. Based on the conducted ...research, the main competencies that a teacher should have to conduct professional activities from the point of view of students were established. Digital tools are urgently needed to implement these competencies. In this paper, we will show our view on the algorithm for using digital tools in the educational process. A teacher should have a wide arsenal of digital tools: be able to use office programs, be able to search, to select, to analyze and to interpret information. To be able to create a teacher’s website, record digital audio and video content, to be able to place it for easy access for students, and, of course, be able to use the University’s learning management system.
The article considers the problems that arose in the situation when the world’s system of education has been forced to transfer into distance learning mode because of the pandemic. For the first time ...mankind had got an experience when it became necessary to abandon traditional training. In such situation, it was possible to continue providing education both in schools and in the universities due to the advantages that “digitalization” of education carries, though a number of shortcomings that both teachers and students faced were also revealed. Empirical experiment allowed to find out that distance education has significant shortcomings which affect both quality of knowledge and physical and mental health of people as well as socio-cultural adaptation and socialization of foreign students. Abandonment of traditional education in favor of distant one carries significant losses in the quality of education and, as a result, decreases the ability to create a harmonious and comprehensively developed personality. Authors of the article come to the conclusion that distance education should be used as an additional form of education in comparison to basic one (traditional), that is, it can provide positive results only in the complex (traditional plus distance).

Virtual education has started to grab interest since technology emerges in everything in our life. Metaverse is one of the technologies that has been conceived since the late 90s and is currently ...being renewed and renovated to suit current changes. Yet, many teachers and students still do not know how to utilize Metaverse to create a new atmosphere in the learning process. Therefore, this study aims to show the results of using Metaverse in the form of virtual space in the educational field and how teachers and students respond to the process. In this study, the authors would like to conduct a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) on the advantages and disadvantages of virtual educational spaces in Metaverse based on many previous studies related to this topic. Survey results conducted by previous studies show that students mostly enjoy using Metaverse as their learning method and can comprehend several lessons better when using Metaverse than traditional learning— textbook-based and face-to-face learning. Unfortunately, only several studies focus on finding preferred subjects to teach using the Metaverse and for which educational level this method suits best. In general, the authors conclude that Metaverse has excellent potential in the future to be explored profoundly in the education field due to the development of skills in the use of technology and a significant increase in student practice scores. However, the guidance of teachers and parents is still needed so that students can avoid the disadvantages.
The COVID-19 pandemic requires distance learning to be carried out by all educational institutions. The learning management system plays a crucial role in supporting modern distance learning that is ...carried out online. However, the effectiveness of LMS in supporting distance learning at the State University of Malang has not been known. This study aims to measure the effectiveness of LMS SIPEJAR as a learning management system owned by the State University of Malang in supporting students' distance learning. The sample of this study was students of the Department of Educational Technology batch 2019. The approach used was descriptive qualitative, with the interview method used to collect data from selected participants using a purposive sampling technique. The results showed that LMS SIPEJAR is effective in supporting online distance learning for students at the State University of Malang, although several aspects must be improved. This research can be used as a reference and recommend State University of Malang and other institutions to improve the quality of their distance learning.
