Für die Medienpädagogik als wissenschaftliche Disziplin stellt Interdisziplinarität ein zentrales Thema dar. Besonders sichtbar wurde ihre interdisziplinäre Verwobenheit zuletzt in der Zeit des durch ...die Covid-19-Pandemie bedingten Distance-Schoolings. Hier wurden Fragen nach dem (schulischen) Umgang von Kindern mit digitalen Medien plötzlich in vielfältigen Forschungsbereichen behandelt. Vor diesem Hintergrund widmet sich der Beitrag der Frage, welche Erkenntnisse zur Digitalen Bildung im Grundschulalter während des Distance-Schoolings aus verschiedenen disziplinären Perspektiven vorliegen. Den Ausgangspunkt der Argumentation bildet ein systematisches Literaturreview, in dem 31 Studien zu dieser Thematik ausgewertet wurden. Die daraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse zum Lehren und Lernen mit und über digitale Medien während der Schulschliessungen werden unter der Perspektive der Interdisziplinarität kontextualisiert. Diese interdisziplinäre Analyse eröffnet einerseits ein differenziertes Verständnis der pandemiebedingten Auswirkungen auf die grundschulische Bildung. Andererseits zeigt sich aber auch, dass die Auseinandersetzung mit diesen Entwicklungen eine genuin pädagogische Aufgabe ist und insbesondere die Medienpädagogik eine wichtige Disziplin darstellt, von der ausgehend die Digitale Bildung (im Grundschulalter) ausgestaltet werden sollte.
Im März 2020 kam es aufgrund der Covid-19-Pandemie zu landesweiten Schulschliessungen. Lehrkräfte, Eltern und deren schulpflichtige Kinder wurden von dieser Situation völlig unvorbereitet getroffen. ...Der Beitrag beleuchtet diese erste Phase des Distance Schooling mit Blick auf die damit einhergehenden Anforderungen an Familien und veränderte familiale Interaktionsprozesse. Unter Fokussierung auf medienbezogene Aushandlungsprozesse und veränderte Konstellationen von Medienpraktiken werden die Ergebnisse einer qualitativen Erhebung mit sechs Familien eines bestehenden Längsschnitt-Panels vorgestellt. Zum Erhebungszeitpunkt im April/Mai 2020 befanden sich die Kinder in der sechsten Jahrgangsstufe. Die Interaktionsprozesse werden ausgehend von dem Ansatz kommunikativer Figurationen beschrieben, wobei der Fokus auf familiale Aushandlungsprozesse im Spannungsfeld von Autonomie und Heteronomie gelegt wird. Die Ergebnisse veranschaulichen, mit welchen Herausforderungen die (Ausnahme-)Situation des Distance Schooling verbunden ist und wie heterogen Familien mit diesen umgehen. In der familialen Interaktion ergeben sich neue Freiheitsgrade und Anforderungen an ein eigenständiges Handeln der Kinder, die innerhalb der Familie ausgehandelt und bewältigt werden müssen.
Remote Education Tutors (RETs) enact crucial roles in Australian distance schooling, by living with families who reside in geographically isolated locations and supporting their school age children's ...learning. As part of a larger research project, this paper presents a study of four RETs derived from semi-structured interviews conducted in their respective home schoolrooms. Informed conceptually by Bronfenbrenner's socio-ecological systems theory (1979, 1986), the thematic analysis generated four substantive themes related to the participants' lives and work: pedagogical competencies; healthy relational dynamics; optimism with a solution focus; and substantive occupation. More broadly, the RETs contribute indispensably to the educational success and the lifestyle sustainability of the school age children with whom they work, yet currently there is no formal recognition of that contribution, just as there is no viable career pathway for RETs seeking to become qualified teachers. Accordingly, they are as occupationally invisible as the remote living families whom they serve.
COVID‐19 and its containment measures have uniquely challenged adolescent well‐being. Following self‐determination theory (SDT), the present research seeks to identify characteristics that relate to ...well‐being in terms of positive emotion and intrinsic learning motivation under distance schooling conditions and whether SDT's core postulates hold true in this exceptional situation. Feeling competent and autonomous concerning schoolwork, and socially related to others were hypothesised to relate to positive emotion and intrinsic learning motivation. The role of self‐regulated learning (SRL) as a moderator was considered. Self‐reports were collected from 19,967 secondary school students in Austria (Study 1) and Germany (Study 2). In both studies, structural equation modelling revealed that all basic needs were associated with positive emotion, and that competence and autonomy were associated with intrinsic learning motivation. Moderation effects of SRL were identified in Study 1 only: The association of autonomy and both outcomes and the association of competence and intrinsic learning motivation varied with the level of SRL. The results highlight the relevance of basic psychological need satisfaction and SRL in a situation in which adolescents are confronted with a sudden loss of daily routines.
The Corona Virus Disease of 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has upset the students' daily routine, forcing them at first into a sudden transition to distance learning and then to a return to school modelled ...on the basis of infection containment measures. The present research involved 157 students from schools in central Italy with a mean age of 13.58 years old to investigate the affective impact of the pandemic on the school experience and its components (recess, oral testing, relationships with classmates, and relationship pupils-teachers). The results show that only a few have experienced school interruption in a traumatic way: they have appreciated neither distance learning, nor the return to school; for these teenagers, the school of the past has died. Other adolescents and pre-adolescents tried to replace the face-to-face mode with distance learning, maintaining certain attention to the school even during the quarantine. However, the online mode did not keep its promise. Those who have invested more in digital innovation find it difficult to return to normality today. For all of them, socialization mediated by school experience is decisive in supporting the return to ordinary life after the pandemic.
Zusammenfassung
Pandemiebedingte Phasen des Distance Schooling stellen eine Ausnahmesituation dar, in der die Lernleistungen der Schüler:innen noch stärker als im Regelunterricht von der ...Ressourcenausstattung und privaten Unterstützung abhängen, wodurch das Risiko der sozialen Selektivität steigt. Im Beitrag werden pädagogische Strategien zur Vermeidung von Kompetenzverlusten und Benachteiligungen während der Schulschließungen reflektiert. Damit wird analysiert, wie sich diese in der Abgrenzung der Zuständigkeiten von Schule und Eltern wie auch in der wahrgenommenen Kompetenzentwicklung der Schüler:innen niederschlagen. Der Fokus liegt auf den Erfahrungen von Lehrpersonen der Sekundarstufe 1 in Wien, die im Rahmen von qualitativen Interviews erhoben wurden. Dabei zeigt sich, dass sich mit den umfassenden inhaltlichen und methodischen Adaptierungen im Distance Schooling auch das Rollenverständnis der Lehrenden und deren Beziehung zu den Lernenden verändern.
The COVID-19 epidemic has had a strong impact on school systems, as most of the world’s countries have closed schools and established distance schooling. In a case study on a 4th grade elementary ...school participant in Slovenia, the author researched the expression and changes in attitudes towards school, self-perceived school competence, and general self-esteem, both during and after distance schooling. With the help of different questionnaires and semi-structured interviews, the author concludes that the distance schooling in the participant's elementary school was well organized and that the participant was satisfied with its implementation. The author found more positive attitudes towards school and self-esteem in the post-epidemic period in the participant, while there were no differences in self-perceived school competence between the two periods.
During 2020 the health situation linked to the COVID-19 has led to the suspension of faceto-face classes in almost all of the Argentine territory. Different distance-learning resources were developed ...to replace traditional classes. The aim of this study was to assess the school engagement (SE) of Argentinian children and adolescents aged 3 to 18 in the distance schooling context due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and to analyze its variability based on socioeconomic status, gender, educational level and movement restriction measures. Caregivers of 1205 children and adolescents (47,5% females, 51,8% males, 0,7% trans/non-binary) answered an online survey between June 5 and June 28, 2020. The survey included an SE questionnaire which was adapted to the virtual schooling context and showed adequate psychometric properties. The results showed higher values of behavioral SE in comparison to emotional SE, and differences according to the variables measured. Less general SE in students attending second cycle of primary school (9 to 12 years), higher behavioral SE in secondary school students, and higher emotional SE in preschool children was found. Girls and students of the upper-middle and upper classes who attend private schools reported higher levels of SE in both dimensions. Also, lower SE was found in students under isolation measures, comparing to those under distancing measures. The contribution of the results for the analysis of the current situation is discussed, and the importance of school engagement as a central variable to assess the effectiveness of the educational practices in a pandemic context is highlighted.
