La declaración de pandemia mundial de la COVID-19 sorprendió a México a la víspera de numerosos cambios de política pública, entre ellos una reforma educativa cuyas leyes reglamentarias (una nueva ...Ley General de Educación, La Ley General del Sistema para la Carrera de las Maestras y los Maestros y la Ley para la Mejora Continua de la Educación) se aprobaron hacia el último trimestre de 2019. En el presente texto se sistematizan las medidas de contingencia adoptadas en la esfera educativa. Al respecto, en primer lugar, se valora su adecuación a ciertas recomendaciones internacionales, pero también a las condiciones concretas del contexto nacional. En segundo lugar, se resumen las principales evidencias existentes a la fecha sobre los efectos de la pandemia sobre diversos procesos educativos. Sobre esta base, se pondera cuánto ha afectado la circunstancia pandémica al desarrollo de algunos de los principales cambios previstos con la reforma educativa.
Partiendo de la idea de que las investigaciones y quienes las realizan inciden en la construcción del sistema educativo, este artículo busca describir y entender cuáles son los principales patrones ...de publicación académica sobre política educativa en el Chile post-dictadura (1990–2019). Mediante una revisión sistemática de más de 300 artículos sobre política educativa, se caracterizan a quiénes publican, los métodos que utilizan y sobre qué se ha investigado durante las últimas tres décadas. Los resultados muestran que la investigación sobre política educativa se caracteriza por producirse en un ambiente masculinizado, individualizado, dominado por universidades de élite y con una creciente autonomía disciplinar. Además, la investigación en política educativa es altamente descriptiva y tiende a utilizar el enfoque cualitativo como forma de aproximarse a los fenómenos que estudia. Finalmente, se observa que, aun cuando la mayoría de los estudios tienen una postura crítica frente al mercado, en general buscan corregirlo más que removerlo. Este ejercicio permite profundizar la reflexión sobre la reconfiguración de las relaciones entre investigación y política educativa, así como de los mecanismos de influencia que las y los investigadores en educación desarrollan sobre la política educacional.

The Six Bricks® initiative is a teaching and learning method that encourages focused engagement in the classroom by all learners, from the foundation phase to adulthood. By using six simple, ...colourful DUPLO® bricks, an element of play is introduced into a situation that inevitably leads to all individuals focusing and interacting. This is one of the major contributions to all teaching and learning disciplines and promotes the audience to learn with enjoyment, enthusiasm and concentration. Along with this, communication is promoted, sparking unimaginable creativity and creation. This book provides the reader with an alternative focus to the original educational application of the Six Bricks® activities. This Six Bricks® initiative focuses on the therapeutic application and processes in communities, schools and within individuals themselves. As each author has had an intimate connection with Six Bricks® initiative, they are all more than qualified to provide their autoethnographic reflections on this initiative, which holds so much promise and excitement for learning and teaching. Therefore, each author’s contributions were original and personalised, providing a new field in the avenues of research in the South African context, as South Africa does not have – as yet – much research on this topic. The methodology used in this qualitative research study was primarily from each author’s perspective; thus, their self-reflection and anecdotal personal experiences form the core of these chapters. Therefore, this autoethnographic is a self-reflective form of writing which involves self-observation and reflective investigation in the context of ethnographic fieldwork and writing.

This study investigates the experiences of minority stress and resilience among LGBTQ+ students in educational settings and identifies critical contributors to their well-being. To highlight the ...unique educational experiences of LGBTQ+ participants a qualitative research strategy was employed. We conducted narrative interviews with 27 LGBTQ+ people aged 17 to 41 who are or have been enrolled in primary, secondary or tertiary education in Slovenia. The results indicate that minority stress is a significant in their educational experiences, with various deleterious effects. The testimonies of our respondents indicate, albeit to a lesser extent, that the education system can enhance the resilience of LGBTQ+ youth and mitigate the negative impacts of minority stress. This study confirms prior research on minority stress effects on LGBTQ+ individuals. It asserts that LGBTQ+ youth experience minority stress within the education system, while emphasizing that certain aspects of resilience can significantly mitigate these negative effects. As social support emerged as a significant factor in our study, it would be reasonable to investigate how school personnel can enhance LGBT youths' resilience in the future. Additionally, it would be beneficial to investigate how the support of peers and (chosen) families influences the school experiences of LGBTQ+ students.
Timor-Leste, as an independent nation, was born within a framework marked by the reinforcement of the interaction between the local and the global and has several peculiar characteristics: it ...experienced a period of transitional administration by the United Nations, it needed to build from scratch a state and an educational system and experienced a period of strong external dependence. This article aims to observe the evolution of the country’s educational system and the challenges currently facing the sector. In this approach, higher education is not considered. The explicit considerations are supported by (i) the RDTL Constitution; government programs; strategic plans; the Basic Education Law and regulations; and national and development partner reports; (ii) statistical data from the Ministry of Education, the Directorate-General for Statistics of the Government and the Census of 2004, 2010 and 2015; and (iii) the perceptions of six policy makers.
Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) are widely applied in health communities to provide constructive feedback to students on their clinical skills. Investigating nursing students' views towards OSCE to reach a higher standard of clinical evaluation.
A qualitative, exploratory study.
Final year nursing students who experienced OSCE was the target population, data were collected with semi-structured interviews. After 25 interviews, data saturation was achieved. The interviews were verbatim transcribed and analyzed according to qualitative content analysis based on Graneheim and Lundman method. To achieve trustworthiness, the methods proposed by Lincoln and Guba were used.
Two main themes emerged during data analysis were: 1- management problems, that includes 3 categories: 1) supervisor’s behavior, 2) time management,3) facilities, and 2- educational problems including three categories of 1) simulation, 2) educational background, 3) question design which are key factors in conducting a more rational evaluation.
Although OSCE is an accepted method of clinical evaluation, there are some drawbacks in both management and education that require attention. These results could be effective in improving clinical evaluation and educational programs. Using more student-centered methods in teaching and providing facilities to bring students to the real world of the profession can help them to improve their ability in clinical decision making.
The aim of developing academic resilience and motivational intensity, as two constructs of positive psychology, is to increase learners' capability to compete with each other even in adverse ...conditions. Different types of academic resilience are conceptualized and germane literature about the relationship between academic resilience and academic achievement is provided. Literature showed that some socio-affective factors (e.g. peer relations, parents' high expectations, teachers' attention, and kindness, etc.), socio-economic factors (e.g. the financial contribution of parents' to education, economic and social class level, etc.), and affective factors (e.g. anxiety, self-efficacy, motivation and so on) can influence learners' academic achievement and policy makers' decision in providing an appropriate context for learning. In the end, the pedagogical implications are expounded to foster the language learning quality and to develop a language educational system. Suggestions for further research are provided to develop the existent literature on the relationship between academic, motivational intensity, and learners' academic achievement.
Since the success of any educational system is tied to the teachers’ professional commitment, discovering the determinants of this construct seems vital. However, the impacts of job satisfaction and collective efficacy have remained unclear. Against this backdrop, the current review article seeks to theoretically explain the impacts of these constructs on EFL teachers’ professional commitment using the available documents. The review findings illuminated that EFL teachers’ professional commitment heavily relies on their job satisfaction and collective efficacy beliefs. The implications for educational principals and teacher educators are finally discussed.
This study explores how early childhood education and basic education teachers develop and develop innovations within the decentralised educational system of Finland. The comprehensive dataset of 20 ...field interviews provides a range of insights into teachers' goals, principles, inspirations and experiences when working with a variety of language-based innovations across Finland. The ecological perspective employed in the study highlights the complex relationships between the different ecosystems of education. With the particular focus on the educator-exosystem relationship, the findings indicate how Finnish teachers respond to the expectation to continuously develop and innovate as key change agents in education. The findings also outline ways in which teachers' development and innovation is fostered and disrupted within the educator-exosystem relationship. This study highlights the importance of pre-service teacher education in preparing teachers to innovate and to develop within a decentralised educational system. Moreover, this study highlights the need to ensure that the professional repertoire of teachers goes beyond pedagogical considerations to include interpersonal, organisational, critical and reflexive skills that mediate and sustain the development of teachers within the wider ecology of education.
