With the lifestyle change, users' demand for furniture has shown a trend for personalization and diversification. The customized furniture market is growing rapidly and gradually becoming an ...indispensable choice for lifestyle items. The present qualitative study sought to identify the influencing factors and relationships of user demand for customized furniture. This study constructed a 4E semi-structured interview guide, which means that interviews were conducted from 4 dimensions: essential information, information extraction, user experience, and product expectation. The interview results were coded and analyzed in combination with grounded theory. Based on the identified 38 concepts and 10 categories, we obtain 4 main categories: fundamental condition, operation behaviour, sensory value and emotional value. For the factors that affect the demand of customized furniture users, customized furniture enterprises can start from 2 levels of publicity and product design to meet user demand and improve the user purchase probability.

Sara Kristoffersson's compelling study provides the first sustained critical history of IKEA. Kristoffersson argues that the company's commercial success has been founded on a neat alignment of the ...brand with a particular image of Swedish national identity – one that is bound up with ideas of social democracy and egalitarianism - and its material expression in a pared-down, functional design aesthetic. Employing slogans such as “Design for everyone” and “Democratic design”, IKEA signals a rejection of the stuffy, the 'chintzy', and the traditional in both design practices and social structures. Drawing on original research in the IKEA company archive and interviews with IKEA personnel, Design by IKEA traces IKEA's symbolic connection to Sweden, through its design output and its promotional materials, to examine how the company both promoted and profited from the concept of Scandinavian Design.
Felix Ganz (1869-1944) developed his family's fabric and furniture store in Mainz into a public company with subsidiaries and branches across Europe and the Middle East. The business was restructured ...after the Wall Street Crash and the Great Depression and was lost to the family as a result of Nazi anti-Jewish persecution. This article reconstructs the history of the Ludwig Ganz AG and the entrepreneurial biography of its owner Felix Ganz, a member of Germany's business elite in the Wilhelmine and Weimar eras, a veteran of the First World War, and a victim of antisemitism during the Third Reich.
Climate change is expected to increase the frequency of flooding events. Although rainfall is highly correlated with mosquito-borne diseases (MBD) in humans, less research focuses on understanding ...the impact of flooding events on disease incidence. This lack of research presents a significant gap in climate change-driven disease forecasting.
We conducted a scoping review to assess the strength of evidence regarding the potential relationship between flooding and MBD and to determine knowledge gaps.
PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science were searched through 31 December 2020 and supplemented with review of citations in relevant publications. Studies on rainfall were included only if the operationalization allowed for distinction of unusually heavy rainfall events. Data were abstracted by disease (dengue, malaria, or other) and stratified by post-event timing of disease assessment. Studies that conducted statistical testing were summarized in detail.
From 3,008 initial results, we included 131 relevant studies (dengue
, malaria
, other MBD
). Dengue studies indicated short-term (
) decreases and subsequent (1-4 month) increases in incidence. Malaria studies indicated post-event incidence increases, but the results were mixed, and the temporal pattern was less clear. Statistical evidence was limited for other MBD, though findings suggest that human outbreaks of Murray Valley encephalitis, Ross River virus, Barmah Forest virus, Rift Valley fever, and Japanese encephalitis may follow flooding.
Flooding is generally associated with increased incidence of MBD, potentially following a brief decrease in incidence for some diseases. Methodological inconsistencies significantly limit direct comparison and generalizability of study results. Regions with established MBD and weather surveillance should be leveraged to conduct multisite research to
) standardize the quantification of relevant flooding,
) study nonlinear relationships between rainfall and disease,
) report outcomes at multiple lag periods, and
) investigate interacting factors that modify the likelihood and severity of outbreaks across different settings. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP8887.
Leverage Python software combined with contrastive analysis, structural analysis and trend analysis to analyze the current bamboo furniture market. Make use of Baidu Index to analyze the future ...development trend of bamboo furniture and user portrait. The research showcases that the simple modern style, pastoral style and European style furniture have made up a huge part of the market on the bamboo furniture market at present, and the bamboo furniture structure in the market mostly adopts weave structure and scaffold structure. From regional analysis' perspective, the bamboo furniture developed more advanced in southeast coast and furniture industry spreads around Guangdong to its surrounding areas in cluster effect. The evaluation of bamboo furniture users shows that users pay more attention to the height, size, comfort and folding adjustment of bamboo furniture, whilst paying less attention to its design, which also reflected that bamboo chair is relatively lack of design. Through the analysis of the future development trend of bamboo furniture by Baidu Index, the conclusion is drawn that bamboo furniture can expand consumer groups by improving the design, such as, the exploration of intelligent development. In summary, based on the data analysis of the current situation and development trend of bamboo furniture market, this paper puts forward the innovative design of bamboo furniture to improve the competitiveness of bamboo furniture market, and promote the development of bamboo furniture Industry.
The co-combustion of raw and torrefied biomasses is recognised as environmental friendly energy conversion. Co-combustion of hard coal with raw biomass has been widely investigated in the literature. ...In contrast, co-combustion with torrefied biomass has been not particularly investigated. This paper shows the investigations of co-combustion of raw, torrefied biomass and biodegradable waste in bubbling fluidized bed combustor. Two kind of biomass sources (i.e. willow (Salix viminalis), olive oil residue) and waste wood from furniture manufacturing were analysed in terms of fuel feeding rate, CO, SO2 and NOx emission and ash behavior. The part of a raw biomass was torrefied using a rotary kiln reactor. Hence, the combustion performance of raw and torrefied biomass was compared. The impact of torrefaction on the emission of CO, SO2 and NOx depends on biomass type. In the case of willow the decrease of SO2 emission was obtained when the raw biomass was substituted by the torrefied biomass. Additionally, ash fusibility from the raw and torrefied biomass was analysed. It was noticed that co-combustion of torrefied biomass caused increase of ash initial deformation temperature (IDT) comparing to co-combustion with a raw biomass.
•Co-combustion of hard coal and raw/torrefied biomass was analysed.•The application of torrefied biomass did not deteriorate the combustion performance.•In the case of torrefied willow application, SO2 emission was decreased.•Torrefaction caused increase of ash initial deformation temperature (IDT).
This work aims to investigate the role of digital technologies, specifically enhanced interconnectivity, in supply chains (SC)s and their management. With a case study of an international company ...leading the home furniture industry and its suppliers, we explore the development of (new and integrated) practices and routines in operational processes for heading to a hyper-connected SC. The study builds on the notion of absorptive capacity to frame the SC transformation brought by the assimilation of specific digital technologies (i.e. Internet of Things, Cloud-based platforms, Augmented and Virtual Reality, and Artificial Intelligence). We analyze how SC actors combine these technologies to develop their SC processes and routines in terms of real-time data exchange and end-to-end visibility between globally distributed companies, devices, products, and people. Key theoretical implications rely on identifying interconnection levels across SC processes that allow incorporating technological knowledge at the SC level, building on trustful collaboration and secure and reliable communications beyond the boundaries of every single factory. Results also provide practitioners with a set of collaborative practices and related challenges to integrate digital technologies at different (and complementary) levels as guidelines for a transformation towards SC hyper-connectivity aimed at improving the overall SC performance.
Jorongan Village is as an area designated as the Furniture Industry Center of Probolingggo Regency, thereby leading to changes in some houses functionality from residential to business. This ...certainly changes the internal and external layout of the houses used for furniture business. The purpose of this research is to identify the spatial layout pattern of business houses in the furniture industrial center area of Probolinggo Regency. This research was carried out with the behavior mapping approach used to describe the existing space in each furniture business house. Therefore, based on the analysis results, there are four patterns of business function space layout, the first, second, and third are located at the front, side and partially inside the building, while the other part is located in the side. Furthermore, the pattern with part of the business function space is located inside the building, and partly outside the front and side of the house. The result showed that three houses had irregular patterns with different layouts from other businesses.
