Abstract
SMEs play an increasingly important role in promoting national economic development and social progress. With increasingly fierce market competition, the challenges faced by SMEs are ...gradually increasing, and it is urgently needed to improve logistics management to increase the economic benefits of enterprises. Although SMEs are not strong in strength, the impact of logistics activities on companies continues to increase, and companies must also pay attention to logistics construction. This paper elaborates the problems existing in SMEs in light of the major problems in the logistics management of SMEs, and analyzes the optimization algorithms of logistics management to lay a solid foundation for further development.

•A new classification of literature on collaborative vehicle routing is proposed.•Three major streams of research are identified.•The paper gives a structured overview on recent developments.•Future ...research directions are highlighted.
In horizontal collaborations, carriers form coalitions in order to perform parts of their logistics operations jointly. By exchanging transportation requests among each other, they can operate more efficiently and in a more sustainable way. Collaborative vehicle routing has been extensively discussed in the literature. We identify three major streams of research: (i) centralized collaborative planning, (ii) decentralized planning without auctions, and (ii) auction-based decentralized planning. For each of them we give a structured overview on the state of knowledge and discuss future research directions.
Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to recognise the current state of big data analytics (BDA) on different organisational and supply chain management (SCM) levels in Brazilian firms. Specifically, ...the paper focuses on understanding BDA awareness in Brazilian firms and proposes a framework to analyse firms’ maturity in implementing BDA projects in logistics/SCM.
Design/methodology/approach
A survey on SCM levels of 1,000 firms was conducted via questionnaires. Of the 272 questionnaires received, 155 were considered valid, representing a 15.5 per cent response rate.
Findings
The knowledge of Brazilian firms regarding BDA, the difficulties and barriers to BDA project adoption, and the relationship between supply chain levels and BDA knowledge were identified. A framework was proposed for the adoption of BDA projects in SCM.
Research limitations/implications
This study does not offer external validity due to restrictions for the generalisation of the results even in the Brazilian context, which stems from the conducted sampling. Future studies should improve the comprehension in this research field and focus on the impact of big data on supply chains or networks in emerging world regions, such as Latin America.
Practical implications
This paper provides insights for practitioners to develop activities involving big data and SCM, and proposes functional and consistent guidance through the BDA-SCM triangle framework as an additional tool in the implementation of BDA projects in the SCM context.
Originality/value
This study is the first to analyse BDA on different organisational and SCM levels in emerging countries, offering instrumentalisation for BDA-SCM projects.
There has been a growing demand for engineer-to-order (ETO) prefabricated building systems, in which a unique product must fulfill the requirements of specific clients. Although industrialized ...building systems can potentially simplify the production process, there is usually a high level of complexity in ETO production systems, such as uncertainty in client demands, short lead-time, overlapping between project stages, and resources that are shared among different projects. In this context, logistics management plays a key role in terms of achieving project goals related to cost, time and safety. This research work proposes the combined use of principles from the Lean Production Philosophy and Building Information Modeling (BIM), as a mechanism to cope with the complexity involved in those types of projects. Although these can be regarded as two separate approaches for improving the performance of production systems in the construction industry, there are evidences that there is much synergy between them. This paper reports the development of a logistics planning and control model for site assembly of ETO prefabricated building systems using BIM 4D modeling. The main theoretical contribution of this research work is the understanding of the synergies between Lean principles and BIM functionalities that are applicable to site logistics management, providing an example of how this body of knowledge can be expanded. This investigation also provides some practical contributions on how to carry out logistics planning and control at different hierarchical levels, with the support of BIM 4D modeling, aligning this process with the Last Planner System of production control. Design science research was the methodological approach adopted in this investigation, and the proposed model was developed and tested in empirical studies carried out in a steel fabricator company that designs, fabricates and assemblies steel structures.

•Modelling logistics outsourcing process using logistics resources under uncertainty.•Using FDEMATEL to analyse the logistics resources impact relationships and weights.•Identifying independent ...logistics resources and evaluate LSPs using FTOPSIS.•Testing the model effectiveness through a developing-economy real case study.•Confirming the model robustness through a two-phase sensitivity analysis.
The increasing importance of logistics outsourcing and availability of logistics services providers (LSPs) highlights the significance and complexity of the LSP evaluation and selection process. Most existing LSP evaluation and selection studies use historical performance data and assume independence among decision criteria. This paper proposes an integrated logistics outsourcing approach to evaluate and select LSPs based on their logistics resources and capabilities. This novel approach combines a fuzzy decision making trial, evaluation laboratory (FDEMATEL) and fuzzy techniques to order preferences by similarity to ideal solution (FTOPSIS) methods. The new multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) model addresses the impact relationships between decision criteria and ranks LSP alternatives against weighted resources and capabilities. The effectiveness of this approach is demonstrated through a real case study and a two-phase sensitivity analysis confirms its robustness.
ABSTRACT The approval of National Policy of Solid Waste (PNRS) in 2010, through of Law 12,305/10 culminated of an articulation that has been running for about twenty years in the National Congress. ...From this orientation the ASLORE (Reverse Logistics of Packaging Association) was established in 2015, through FIERGS (Federation of Industries of the State of Rio Grande do Sul), factor that motivated this study to answer the following research problem: In this way, the general objective was to propose possible actions in relation to the services provided by ASLORE, based on evaluation of this members, in the significant environmental, legal, social and economic aspects for this and its associates.
That there is a strong degree of affinity between efficient transport service delivery and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is not an understatement in this century. However, the ...persistent traffic dilemma in Nigerian cities including Ibadan city undermines the importance of transportation to the socio-economic affluence of the country. Despite the continuous efforts of the government in road expansion and construction, the menace of traffic bottlenecks in Ibadan city is alarming and the traffic situations still recorded a high level of dismal performance. It is based on the foregoing that this study examined the traffic situations in Ibadan city and demonstrated strategies towards improved intra-city traffic flow in the city through the use of ICT-based traffic management system. 400 road users were sampled randomly along seven stratified traffic corridors in Ibadan. Data were analysed descriptively and inferentially. Major findings revealed that the majority of the road users are commuters (50%), between 31-40 years (57.5%) and actively engaged in productive activities (over 70%). The study also revealed major ranked traffic challenges and factors contributing to traffic challenges in the city. Again, epileptic electricity supply, poor funding, absence of reliable traffic facilities and data, poor internet facilities and cost-effectiveness of ICT facilities are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th respectively as major constraints of ICT-based traffic management in Ibadan. Meanwhile, improved traffic management system, reduced congestion, improved traffic safety, sustainable urban transport operation and reduced traffic incidence are the major ranked prospect of ICTbased traffic management. Based on the findings, adequate integration of ITS/ICT mechanisms to the urban transport system in Ibadan city and cities with similar issues was strongly recommended towards enhancing the efficient and effective performance of transport infrastructural facilities and services delivery.
