Odabrani teorijski okvir uključuje Teoriju pojmovne metafore i opojmljivanje apstraktnih pojavnosti (Lakoff i Johnson 1980; Gibbs 1994, 2008; Kövecses 2005; Forceville i Urios-Aparisi 2009; Sharifian 2011; Raffaelli 2012; Forceville 2017), te povijesno-umjetničke uvide u uporabu slikovnih elemenata svjetlosti u formalnome slikovnome jeziku baroka (Haskell 1963; Lambert 2007; Toman 2007; Cvetnić 2007).
Metaphor is a topical issue across a number of disciplines, wherever researchers are concerned with how speakers and writers package and process messages. This book is addressed at readers from ...diverse academic backgrounds who are interested in ways of researching metaphor from different perspectives, and especially through corpus linguistics. A number of approaches to and exploitations of metaphor, including conceptual metaphor theory and cognitive approaches more generally, text and spoken discourse analysis, and CDA, are discussed, explored and critiqued using corpus data. The book also includes corpus linguistic studies of different aspects of metaphor, which investigate its linguistic and semantic properties and relate them to current theoretical views. The book demonstrates the need for naturally-occurring language data to be used in the development of metaphor theory, and shows the value of corpus data and techniques in this work.
This book examines how people understand utterances that are intended figuratively. Traditionally, figurative language such as metaphors and idioms has been considered derivative from more complex ...than ostensibly straightforward literal language. Glucksberg argues that figurative language involves the same kinds of linguistic and pragmatic operations that are used for ordinary, literal language. Glucksberg's research in this book is concerned with ordinary language: expressions that are used in daily life, including conversations about everyday matters, newspaper and magazine articles, and the media. Metaphor is the major focus of the book. Idioms, however, are also treated comprehensively, as is the theory of conceptual metaphor in the context of how people understand both conventional and novel figurative expressions. A new theory of metaphor comprehension is put forward, and evaluated with respect to competing theories in linguistics and in psychology. The central tenet of the theory is that ordinary conversational metaphors are used to create new concepts and categories. This process is spontaneous and automatic. Metaphor is special only in the sense that these categories get their names from the best examples of the things they represent, and that these categories get their names from the best examples of those categories. Thus, the literal shark can be a metaphor for any vicious and predatory being, from unscrupulous salespeople to a murderous character in The Threepenny Opera. Because the same term, e.g.,shark, is used both for its literal referent and for the metaphorical category, as in My lawyer is a shark, we call it the dual-reference theory. The theory is then extended to two other domains: idioms and conceptual metaphors. The book presents the first comprehensive account of how people use and understand metaphors in everyday life.
The paper analyses a group od Bulgarian metaphorically motivated placenames,
especially those derived from terms for human (head, nose, leg etc.) or
animal (wing, horn, beak, hoof etc.) body parts. ...Such a kind of nomination is
very frequent in Bulgarian toponymy, but also in toponymy of other Slavic
languages.
The main aim of this PhD thesis is the analysis of the cognitive and linguistic mechanisms within the creative and delexicalised metaphors using a mixed approach of Lakoff and Johnson’s (1980 and 1999) theory of conceptual metaphor; the Fauconnier and Turner’s (2002) theory of blending and the Monneret’s (2004 and 2014) theory of analogy. To test the complementariness of these three models, we have chosen two German literary texts from 1980 to 1990 that are «Kassandra» (1983) by Christa Wolf and «Minotaurus: eine Ballade» (1985) by Friedrich Dürrenmatt. To identify the degree of figurativeness of the metaphors within these texts, we have used three methodologies: the interviews to German speakers; the consultation of the German language dictionaries and the observation of the elements within metaphors through the MIPVU methodology (Steen et al., 2010). The analysis allows us to understand how metaphors work in the different texts and how cultural symbols are used by authors. Additionally, this research aims to show how the use of conceptual «frames» and conceptual «blends» that structure our cognition.
razumijevanja različitih perspektiva i korištenja ključnih
procjena upoznaju buduće generacije koje žive u svijetu
brzih, gotovo neograničenih pristupa informacijama putem

The external image of the church - a few biblical perspectives What does the Bible teach about the image of the church and does it provide certain guidelines on how the church should promote itself? ...What does God do with perceptions about His church and what does He expect of the church in this regard? The church has a certain identity as the image/representative of God and has to emanate the image of the Trinity. This identity gives the church the responsibility to administer perceptions about God, the church itself and its environment. To transmit the character, values and convictions of the church, the church should be involved constructively in the world. The church should mainly project the image of the Bridegroom, but in the process should also reflect its own image as being the bride. God administers the perceptions about Himself and His people, but in this regard also gives responsibilities to the church. The church should administer perceptions about God and His people by performing good deeds and by reflecting the idea of hope. The church, as the bride, can only do this if she has a passion for God and her Bridegroom, Christ, but also a burning passion for the church itself.
Our understanding of the nature and processing of figurative language is central to several important issues in cognitive science, including the relationship of language and thought, how we process ...language, and how we comprehend abstract meaning. Over the past fifteen years, many traditional theories on these issues have been challenged on the basis of figurative language research. This research has prompted such fundamental questions as: is metaphor primarily a function of thought, or is it merely a matter of language? Why do we prefer to speak metaphorically in everyday conversation, rather than literally? Is metaphor the only vehicle through which we can understand abstract concepts? What role do cultural and social factors play in our comprehension of figurative language? Points on these and related questions will be raised and argued by the book's authors in an integrative look at the role of non-literal language in cognition form investigators who vary widely in their theoretical and philosophical views.
