Nematode communities were investigated in the soil, litter and epiphytic moss of natural mesophilic broad-leaved forest in the Mezin National Natural Park. A total of 75 species belonging to 55 ...genera, 32 families and 10 orders were identified. Results showed that taxonomic diversity of the nematode fauna in the soil was higher than in the litter and epiphytic moss. Soil-inhabiting nematodes were 53 species (43 genera, 27 families), litter nematodes — 42 species (32 genera, 19 families), whereas moss nematodes belonged to 25 species (23 genera, 16 families). The lowest value of Shannon diversity index was recorded in the moss (2.17), while it was the highest in the soil (3.25). In contrast, the abundance in nematode communities was the highest in epiphytic moss (mean value 4621.55 ind./100 g). The lowest nematode abundance (450.12 ind./100 g) was found in the forest soil. Rhabditis filiformis Bütschli, 1873 was recorded in the eudominant group in the forest soil (proportion in the community 14.83 %). Aphelenchoides composticola Franklin, 1957 (17.79 %), Mesodorylaimus bastiani Bütschli, 1873 (13.91 %) and Plectus cirratus Bastian, 1865 (15.8 %) were eudominants in the litter, and Aporcelaimellus paracentrocercus (de Coninck, 1935) (11.75 %), P. cirratus (20.1 %), Tylencholaimus teres Thorne, 1939 (35.21 %) in epiphytic moss.
Dinara Mountain massif is recognized as an area of exceptional value, which led to its recent protection as a nature park, the second largest one in Croatia. The protected area includes the territory ...of two counties with four cities and nine municipalities, five of which are included with over 50% of the territory. The paper explains how landscape planning methods establish potential spatial conflicts and propose a compromise between landscape conservation and spatial development. The basic method was the identification and analysis of the landscape value models in 3 categories: natural, visual-experiential, and cultural-historical values. The creation of the models is preceded by a detailed analysis of all environmental components and the collection and creation of spatial data with the help of GIS tools. By overlapping the basic models, a cumulative model of the overall landscape values of the space is produced, which clearly shows which parts of the landscape have a higher value, regarding the protection requirements. The final value model is overlapped with the planned interventions and a clear overview of the vulnerability and possible conflict zones in the area is obtained. The paper describes the impact of individual interventions on the landscape qualities that need to be preserved and suggests guidelines for spatial plan corrections for the purpose of minimal impact on existing values, thus helping to prevent unwanted changes.
The article presents data on the appearance, spatial distribution, and ecological features of the golden jackal in the Tuzlivski Lymany National Nature Park. The estimated abundance of the jackal ...population is given along with its influence on local fauna of the national nature park. During the 20 years since the first jackals were recorded in the Ukrainian Black Sea coast, the jackal has become well-adapted to natural ecosystems of the Tuzlivski Lymany National Nature Park. Suitable protection and foraging conditions are provided in the park for this predator by steppe areas, sandbars of the Black Sea coast, and the artificial Lebedivskiy forest. For nursing the puppies, in addition to open natural habitats, especially reeds of wetlands, shrubs in the artificial forest, the jackal also uses burrows dug by itself. Currently, there are at least five jackal groups in the territory of the park. The number of broods and size of jackal groups fluctuates depending on seasonal climatic conditions and water level in the estuaries, which determine the availability of food and the character of hunting. The number of jackals in the park and surrounding areas was higher in 2020 than in the period when the water level in the estuaries was higher, and the number of jackals reached about 150 specimens. The population density of jackals in the park and surrounding areas is about 10 specimens per 1000 hectares. During the five years of observations in 2015 to 2020, the number of jackals increased slightly in the Tuzlivski Lymany National Nature Park due to the expansion of dry meadows to areas of former shoals. The area of sandbars has also increased providing access to the island systems where birds used to nest making these lands attractive for jackals as foraging sites. There is no sharp tendency to increase in the number of common jackals in the park. However, due to the likelihood of infection and spread of rabies by this predator species, some recreational areas should use rabies vaccine for oral immunisation of carnivores against rabies, which was done in September 2020 in the Lebedivskiy Forest tract of the park.
The surface site of Yesilyuva Nature Park encompasses natural, social, economic, and cultural characteristics and has become a marker of the region’s natural and cultural heritage. To support the ...preservation of this site, promotional activities should be planned. In this study, because of tourism and related opinions of residents and visitors alike in terms of their natural determination, an important cultural and historical feature is aimed at evaluating the tourism potential of Yesilyuva Nature Park. This framework is designed to establish prospective tourism sustainability. As a result, Yesilyuva Nature Park’s natural and cultural properties have been determined to be suitable for sustainable tourism activities using geographic information systems (GIS). This protection in the field, which balances sustainability and landscape design, will provide for the development of tourism activities. In the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) analysis and survey, residents and visitors reported that the most important feature of the Yesilyuva Nature Park was its natural beauty. Visitors often come to observe traditional and natural life and to engage in tourism activities. All the data, which includes maps derived from GIS, represents landscape planning for sustainable tourism areas in Yesilyuva Nature Park.
In Ukraine, Allium ursinum is a rare species of the state level of conservation, isolated locations of which occur very rarely on the territory of the left bank of the river Dnipro. A new location ...discovered on the territory of National Nature Park “Pyriatynskyi” is isolated and confined to the floodplain gallery forest of the association Alnion incanae Pawłowski et al. 1928. On the territory of the Nature Park “Pyriatynskyi”, the species is represented by a small, incomplete population with a left-sided spectrum. Considering the chorology of the species in the region and the demographic characteristics of the population, this new locality was most likely formed as a result of the recent accidental introduction of the species from the northern enclaves of the Chernihiv oblast or purposeful planting of plants by the local citizens. Taking into account the proximity of A. ursinum growing locality to popular recreation areas, it is necessary to introduce monitoring research of the state and structure of the population and develop special protection measures to conserve this species on the territory of National Nature Park “Pyriatynskyi”.
