La reintroducción de los géneros, así como la diversificación de procedimientos intertextuales en la música de concierto a partir de los años setenta del siglo XX, dio lugar a un intenso debate ...respecto de sus orientaciones estéticas e históricas. El artículo analiza dos obras del compositor argentino Oscar Strasnoy, Sum (2005-11), cuatro piezas para orquesta sinfónica; y Trois caprices de Paganini (2011), concierto para violín y orquesta. Se propone que el recurso a la historia se inscribe, en este caso, en una orientación modernista, como un nominalismo estético que desprende las obras de sus contextos (históricos o estilísticos), identificando elementos de modernidad en las expresiones del pasado, que entran en diálogo con el pensamiento musical contemporáneo.
This article seeks to provide a set of pointers for methodological reflections on Foucauldian-inspired analyses of the exercise of power. Michel Foucault deliberately eschewed methodological ...schemata, which may be why so little has been written on the methodological implications of his analyses. While this article shares the premise that we should refrain from a standardized methodology, it argues that providing broad pointers for analyses informed by the critical ambition and conceptual framework offered by Foucault is both desirable and possible. The article then offers some reflections and general guidelines on how to strengthen the methodological quality of Foucauldian analyses. We argue that the quality of Foucauldian-inspired analysis of modern power may gain from methodological reflections around four pointers: curiosity, nominalism, conceptual grounding and exemplarity.

Y lo hizo ...discretamente, atribuyéndoles sus tesis a otros autores. Jaime Rest habló alguna vez del nominalismo del escritor argentino, pero en este nominalismo Borges introdujo una orientación hermenéutica y semiótica que lo emparenta con dos de sus contemporáneos: Martin Heidegger y Claude Lévi-Strauss.

Wilfrid Sellars is widely known for two positions that he calls “nominalism.” On the one hand, there is his “psychological nominalism,” according to which any awareness one might have of entities—be ...they properties, relations, or facts—is a thoroughly linguistic affair, and so cannot be presupposed in thinking about the process of learning a (first) language. On the other hand, there is his ontological nominalism, according to which the world, as it is in itself, is fundamentally a world of concrete particulars and so does not ultimately contain such things as properties, relations, or propositionally‐structured facts. Sellars clearly takes these two sorts of “nominalism” to go together. However, one of the most influential inheritors of Sellars's philosophy, Robert Brandom, thinks that they do not. Brandom endorses the former, but denies that the latter “is in the end so much as intelligible.” In this paper, I articulate the connection between Sellars's psychological and ontological nominalism and draw on Brandom's own development of Sellars's functional role semantics to argue, against Brandom, that Sellars's ontological nominalism not only harmonizes with the rest of his philosophical commitments, but is actually made fully intelligible by the very aspect of Sellars's theory that Brandom himself develops.
The aim of the article is to give a brief overview of English empiricism, particularly in modern philosophy. The paper will firstly examine the pre-enlightenment thought of F. Bacon, upon which it ...will discuss the empiricism of J. Locke, G. Berkeley and D. Hume. The general conclusion of the paper has it that although empiricism has assumed different shades, it has always permeated English culture.

According to William Lane Craig, to avoid compromising God’s aseity we must embrace nominalism with respect to mathematical and logical objects. There are no numbers, propositions, possible worlds, ...properties, or relations. In this paper I argue that Craig’s nominalism threatens to undermine his theological stance on the atonement.
