Teaching literature equips learners with the knowledge and skills of appreciating literary works. Learners are expected to be able to feel and enjoy the beauty of literary works. Teaching literary ...appreciation still experiences obstacles due to limited time allocation and teacher skills. Such constraints occur in face-to-face teaching of literature appreciation, and are likely to occur in open and distance learning. It is very interesting to study considering that teachers and students in open and distance learning do not meet face-to-face in the classroom. This article describes the teaching of Indonesian literature appreciation in open and distance education. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected from the subject matter books of PBIN 4213 Poetry, PBIN 4217 Drama, and PBIN 4219 Teaching Literary Appreciation, as well as archives of their teaching implementation at the Universitas Terbuka. The teaching materials from the three subject matter books were analyzed and juxtaposed with the teaching process delivered through asynchronous online tutorials. The results of the analysis show that teaching Indonesian literature appreciation can be implemented in open and distance universities through online tutorials.
Drama is a powerful tool for actively engaging children in the English learning process. By creating meaningful contexts, drama techniques help them develop their integrated linguistic competence. ...This research aims to explore how drama impacts the students’ confidence, creativity, and motivation to learn. This research used a literature review by selecting appropriate journal articles regarding drama in EFL teaching. The findings revealed that drama is beneficial in increasing students' confidence, creativity, and motivation to learn. Further research is recommended to exploit drama for children as it boosts the learners’ enthusiasm to learn English effectively.
Students' views on language learning are an important foundation in formulating language learning plans and processes. This study aims to look at students' views about the benefits of learning ...literature in language learning at the high school level. This study also seeks to reveal differences in the views of students from several schools. Researchers use a comprehensive approach to analyse students' views about the benefits of learning literature in learning. Researchers used a survey research method involving an open-ended questionnaire to see students' views on the benefits of learning literature in language learning. The research participants were 555 high school level students from fifteen schools. The research findings show that most students provide a positive view, that is, learning literature in learning Indonesian really supports the linguistic aspects of language learning. Generally, students' views of the benefits of literature are based on the teaching approach used sequentially from the largest to the smallest percentage, namely the language approach, the context approach, followed by the reader's approach and the text approach. The most proportionate combination of approaches is the language approach with context. Some differences from the research sample regarding the benefits of learning in aspects of supporting language skills are caused by differences in the style of approach or pedagogies used by teachers. The results implied that teachers can see and consider students' perspectives or views regarding the benefits of learning literature which are then used to support language learning.

It also deals with an infinite love, incredible affection, sacrifice and struggle of different ages of two women, but became one family because of a polygamous marriage. This novel not only tells the life-wrenching character with family conflict, but readers are also invited to imagine and to feel pain as a result of an endless war in Afghanistan. Literature may also have a wider educational function in the classroom in that, it can help to stimulate the imagination of students to develop their critical abilities and to increase their emotional awareness
This article examines the impact of Reader Response Approach (RRA) on learners’ autonomy in interpreting literary texts in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classes. The research involved ...graduate-level students and teachers from two public universities of Nepal, through Participatory Action Research (PAR). Data were gathered from two Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), twelve classroom observations, and two Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), involving a total of 54 participants. The analysis, based on the principles of socio-constructivism, revealed that RRA-based classes provided students with greater freedom and ample opportunities to engage in discussions on literary texts, connecting them to their personal beliefs and values by fostering their active participation.
