The purpose of the study is to explore factors contributing to the success of women who embarked in entrepreneurship. The study was conducted on 150 women entrepreneur in Malaysia by distributing the ...survey questionnaire. using convenience sampling. The study found charisma and friendliness are the most crucial factors contributes to the success of women entrepreneur while government support is the least contributing factor. Factor analysis conducted on success factors of women entrepreneur in Malaysia categorized the factors into four constructs; Individual & Social Characteristic, Marketing & Business Support, Efficient Management and Customer Engagement. The study found that Customer Engagement Factor contribute the most to the success of women entrepreneur in Malaysia.
While increasingly more economic and social exchanges are taking place in the digital environment globally, women entrepreneurs' access to, and adoption of, digital platforms cannot be assumed to ...happen naturally due to gender and social inequalities that are being replicated in the online environment. This study investigates the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurial digital competencies for women tourism entrepreneurs (WTEs) in Latin America from a gendered perspective. A total of 33 interviews were conducted with women tourism entrepreneurs in Mexico and Ecuador. The findings reveal that women tourism entrepreneurs can and have been empowered through utilising digital technologies and digital platforms, but they face significant challenges and barriers, including the lack of digital competencies; lack of access to digital devices, infrastructure, and training; reliance on supporting staff and family members; and concerns around safety, security and work-life balance. This study contributes to existing entrepreneurship literature by identifying the social and structural inequalities that impede growth in women's tourism business. The findings also highlight how women are disadvantaged in gaining digital competencies because of the macro gender digital divide and micro-level factors. Implications for women's entrepreneurship policy development in relation to digital competencies are provided.
A number of previous empirical studies found that, financially speaking, literate people tends to do budgeting, saving, controlling expenses, managing debt well, participating in stock market and ...planning pension fund, etc. In other words, the higher an individual’s knowledge and understanding of financial concept, the more likely they are to behave financially well in their daily life. Financial literacy is needed by everyone, including womenpreneur because not only they have to be able to manage their personal finance, they should also manage their business finance. Financially literate people are more likely to get access to external funding and to develop their business. This research aims to examine the role played by financial literacy on financial behavior of womenpreneur in Malang. Financial literacy was measured using 11 questions modified from Lusardi & Mitchell (2011) and financial behavior was measured using 8 questions taken from INFE. The sample was 95 respondents who were female (owners of) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Malang. The data were collected using questionnaire. We used Partial Least Square with Smart PLS 3 to examine the variables. After the first bootstrapping process, we drop some invalid indicators and then perform the second bootstrapping. The result showed that all of the remaining indicators were valid and financial literacy had been found to have positive significant (influence) on financial behavior.
The number of women venturing into business is increasing. There are numerous factors at play for why women are starting to assert themselves in business. The study aims to explore the motivating ...factors of women venturing into business in Malaysia. Survey questionnaires were collected from 150 women business owner using convenience sampling. Descriptive analysis and factor analysis were employed in analyzing the data. Findings revealed the most critical factor motivating these women to venture into business was for them to be able to pass on the business to the next successor. Venturing into business for fun was found to be the least important factors. Motivation factors were factor analyzed to determine the main groupings of variables that lead women entrepreneurs to venture into business. Factor analysis conducted led motivation factors into two main factors; Business Achievements and Individual/Personal & Family Influence. This study will help improve strategy for women entrepreneurs to start business.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore determinants that influence women entrepreneurs' performance in micro and small enterprises in Gondar city, Northwest Ethiopia, and in turn ...contribute to entrepreneurship-related literature mainly in developing countries.Design/methodology/approach: The study employed an explanatory research design with agreement of primary data collection via a cross-sectional survey questionnaire followed by quantitative research approach. The sample of this study was 180 women entrepreneurs and selected using random sampling technique. Findings: The findings of this study revealed that educational level, previous entrepreneurial experience, access to business training, access to finance, access to business information, government support, land ownership, and tax are significant in explaining women entrepreneurs' performance in one hand. On the other side, however, age, marital status, access to market, and access to physical infrastructure are found to be insignificant variables in determining women entrepreneurs'performance. Research limitations/implications: The study used one time data for determinants like level of education, previous working experience, age, and profitability of the enterprise. Thus, due to frequent change in such variables, the study may not reflect the dynamics of the data, which would have a convincing influence on the conclusion. In addition, the research has only consisted of 180 samples. Moreover, such number may not represent the whole population of the entrepreneurs of Ethiopian MSEs. In future research, it is advisable to expand study factors, use interviews as a research tool, and make a comparison between women and men entrepreneurial performances. Practical implications: The paper might serve as an input for officials to consider such determinants and encourage an environment that increases women entrepreneurs' performance. In addition, the study might help women entrepreneurs in addressing the factors affecting performance to take actions towards improving their performance and in turn contribute to job creation, wealth, innovation, and poverty alleviation. Originality/value: This study contributes to the literature on the determinants of women entrepreneurs' performance in micro and small enterprises. Specifically, it tests the impact of educational level, age, marital status, previous entrepreneurial experience, access to business training, access to finance, access to business information, access to market, access to physical infrastructure, government support, land ownership, and tax on the performance of women entrepreneurs.
Research on women entrepreneurship is increasingly gaining momentum across the globe, particularly emerging markets that are characterized by institutional voids. This study develops and tests a ...conceptual framework investigating the role of women entrepreneurs’ Emotional Intelligence (EI) in predicting the perceived performance of their ventures. EI influences the networking competencies, which is among the defining competencies of an entrepreneur. Thus, the study also examines whether network competences of women entrepreneurs mediate the impact of EI on firm performance. The data has been collected from 151 women entrepreneurs through a survey in Indian context using a structured questionnaire. Data analysis is done using the partial least square-structural equation modelling, the results of the study reveal that EI and networking competence have a positive significant impact on firm’s financial and non-financial performance. EI also has a positive significant impact on networking competence of women entrepreneurs. Moreover, networking competence partially mediates the relationship between EI and financial and non-financial firm performance showing both direct and indirect relationship of EI with firm performance. The study’s findings add to the body of knowledge on gender and entrepreneurship and have significant implications for women entrepreneurs who want to succeed in business by employing their networking and EI skills.
The rapid development of entrepreneurship can be one of the alternative careers for women in rural areas to be able to earn an income for yourself. The real fact is currently showing different things, a lot of women in rural areas who managed to become independent entrepreneur, even became the backbone of the family. This study raised the phenomenon dimasyarakat with different assumptions above, thus nowadays a lot of women become successful rural entrepreneurship. The purpose of this research is to examine and analyze factors that affect women in the countryside in taking the decision to become an entrepreneur. The conclusion that can be drawn showing the existence of internal and external factors that encourage rural women to become an entrepreneur. The drive to improve the necessities of life, a career with flexible time, fill your leisure with productive is the driving force of rural women entrepreneurship. The results of this research can be used as a reference to be able to push an increasing number of entrepreneur women in Indonesia, especially in rural areas, is also can motivate women to become an entrepreneur.

This study was taken up to examine the level of issues the women face in proper balancing of work life ...and finding out the problems faced by them in work life balance. The study was conducted with 50 women entrepreneurs involved in different nature of enterprises in Assam, India. Findings revealed that the more than half of the women entrepreneurs face high level of issues in proper work life balance. It was also found that the selected women entrepreneurs faced various issues like health, family, social and psychological problems which are affecting their lives to a great extent.
