The paper focuses on verbal forms used in conditional sentences in Resian, a Slavic minority language spoken in Northern Italy. While most of the Slavic langauges do not distinguish posible from ...counterfactual conditions, the Resian dialect, which (due to the contact-induced influence of Italian) has not completely lost the imperfect as a synthetic past, expresses this difference, with the preserved imperfect forms assuming the role of counterfactual markers
