Trubadurji

Trubadurji ("The Troubadurs") is the first comprehensive survey of the troubadour phenomenon published in Slovenia. Its basic objective is an analysis of the possible "sources" (first part of the ...book) and "interpretations" (second part) of the troubadour love and lyric as suggested by contemporary literary historians. - An introductory charpter is devoted to the laying out of the distinctive features of the cultural climate which fostered the appearance of the troubadours, as well as to the setting out of the essentials of the troubadour value system and portics. - The analysis of the possible "sources" includes: hispanoarabic poetry; Cathar heresy; Christian sources (including mariological, liturgical and certain Hebrew influences); Latin literature (classical and medieval); popular tradition; socio-historical context (feudal ties). - In the second part of the book, the troubadours are tentatively "interpreted" as philosophers, worshippers of Beauty or/and servants of Goodness, love players, makers of conventional verses, mental cases, mundane lovers and even adulterers and, indeed, as "inventors" of something that never really existed. - The evolution of troubadour poetry is the subject of the following part of the book in which the best known poets from Guilhem of Aquitaine to Guiraut Riquier are individually dealt with. - The book ends with three appendices (on the "courtly experience"; on Andrea Capellanus; on troubadour music), a charpter by T. Smolej on the reception of troubadour poetry in Slovenia, an epilogue, abibliography and an index.
