The analysis of psychological characteristics and psychological skills of prospective tennis competitors for adequate selection of somatic and cognitive techniques in enhancement of self-efficacy behaviorGorjup, Rado ...Taking a sample of 68 tennis players, aged between 12 and 14-18, the differences in selected seven dimensions of psychological characteristics and psychological skills were obtained by one-way ... analysis of variance. In the empirical part we were trying to analyze the psychological performance skills and characteristics together with the level of psychosomatic distress (state anxiety) in competitive players. Based on previous experience in practice, the adopted psychological self-evaluation questionnaire of psychological characteristics and psychological skills was specially designed. Our long period observations and experience in the coaching process confirm our conclusions. Comparison has shown that older players have no better psychological characteristics and have even more problems with the psychological skills for effective stress reduction control. Further more, results suggest significant differences in the dimensions of self-confidence, activation control, and positive energy in favor of younger ones, especially between 12 and 14-18-year-old female players. The obtained results provide quick feedback information for sport psychologists. Such approaches offer more effective selection of somatic and cognitive techniques for stress reduction and enhancement of self-efficacy behavior.Source: Abstracts from the 10th Alps Adria psychology conference, September 27th-29th 2012, Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy (Str. 50)Type of material - conference contribution ; adult, seriousPublish date - 2012Language - englishCOBISS.SI-ID - 1538536644
