  • Total factor productivity of the Slovenian hotel companies

    The article focuses on the study of performance factors ofSlovenian hotel companies through Data Envelopment Analysisbetween 2001 and 2018. For this purpose, we introduced a bal-anced panel data of ... 20 hotel companies which differ by theirsize, type, the number of hotels within the company, and loca-tion. To determine efficiency factors, we used the Malmquistindex, which can be broken down into a change in efficiency andtechnological change. The change in efficiency was further brokendown into a change in pure technical efficiency and a change inscalar efficiency. Between 2001 and 2018, hotel companiesrecorded decline in total factor productivity index which wasmainly due to the inability to implement new production technol-ogies. One of the key reasons for deterioration in technologicalchange was the 2008 economic crisis.
