  • Managing innovation processes in low-tech and hi-tech companies [Elektronski vir]
Likar, Borut, 1962- ; Fatur, Peter
Abstract: Even though national strategies often force the development of Hi-Tech industries, they only gain 3% of value added in the OECD economies. The question, which is insufficiently researched, ... is how to manage innovation processes in countries/companies in transition as to the level of their technological development. The research was performed in 862 Slovenian medium-size and large companies appertaining to the manufacturing sector, focusing on the relationship between innovation inputs and innovation performance as regards the companies' technological level. The results indicate significant differences between Low-Tech and Hi-Tech groups. Interestingly, the innovation inputs are more efficient in Low-Tech companies compared to Hi-Tech ones. Innovative Low-Tech companies achieve higher added values as to the non-innovative, which is not the case in Hi-Tech companies. On the basis of these findings recommendations are provided as to which policies of innovation investments should different types of companies adopt so as to optimise their innovation performance .
