Kejžar, Anamarija ; Dimovski, Vlado ; Colnar, Simon
This paper explores social innovations that are always evolving with new products and services, are appearing continuously and help provide a response to a social problem. These innovations enhance ... the quality of life on a micro or macro level. Although elements of any innovation process follow a common pattern, social innovations are often confronted with complexity and multidimensionality as presented with the taxonomic definition of social innovations. The paper provides support with the case study to demonstrate the complexity of social innovations, which may introduce new services, innovative adaptations in architecture, and technological innovation. It presents the complexity of social innovation, where experts from different fields collaborate in an interdisciplinary way and on the other hand, people with dementia are involved in the whole innovation process, adapting the process and final result to them. The presented social innovation takes place at the micro level, which allows the transfer of knowledge also to other institutions. The results offer theoretical and practical guidance to new forms of care that involve higher quality of life for people with dementia in a care home.
