  • Pushover-based fragility analysis of multi-storey cross-laminated timber platform-type buildings [Elektronski vir]
    Naumovski, Luka ...
Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is becoming increasingly important in the construction sector as a sustainable alternative to traditional construction materials for primary load-bearing structure of ... multistorey buildings in earthquake-prone regions. Because the seismic performance of such structures has not been widely verified in a real earthquake, numerical models have to be used to estimate expected damages and losses. In this study a fragility analysis of a 12-storey platform-type CLT building, considering the randomness of ground motion (record to record variability) is performed. The analysis is implemented in two main phases. In the first one, the capacity curves are obtained from the pushover analysis of the three-dimensional finite element model made in ETABS. The envelope of the capacity curve is then used for the idealization of structure’s response by the equivalent single degree of freedom (SDOF) model. The SDOF model is used in the second phase, the parameters of its hysteretic response are adopted from full scale tests on CLT walls. The SDOF model consists of a zero-length element and a combination of individual material hysteric responses available in OpenSees, connected in parallel and/or series. The results from the response history analysis, with incrementally scaled records, were used for the calculation of the fragility parameters and fragility curves based on the lognormal distribution. The obtained results, demonstrated on a platform-type building with conservatively defined limit states, and adopted model assumptions, indicate that minor to moderate damages could be expected even in cases of smaller PGA values.
